Daiwa J-Braid x8 Braided Line
A couple weeks ago I swapped from original PP 65 lb to the Daiwa J braid 50 lb on my frog rod. It easily increased my casting distance by 10 yards with less effort.

For the Bank fisherman: What "pushes" your buttons while fishing?
I don't bank fish public water so trash isn't a problem for me. But yellow flies, gnats, noseeums, and mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds gets old quick.

Life Jacket
Me too. 38 lbs of of buoyancy will be nice if I involuntarily go swimming.

Top water in the rain
In light to medium rain I've got to throw the Wake Bull Shad. Add wind and I'll throw the 130 Whopper Plopper.

Choosing color for topwaters
Black - overcast & night Bone or White - sunny with wind Translucent - sunny & calm Red - Pre & Post Spawn

Just for the record (Whopper Plopper content)
I fish alot of open water and a big plus with WP is the casting distance. I can easily cast twice as far with it and in clear water that's a huge benefit. But I do throw Buzzbaits in off colored water and around cover. Double on the 130 Bone. They work.

Bear Encounters While Fishing
10 or 12 encounters with black bears while hunting and all but one ran off when I hollered at them but one. One night predator calling solo at 3 am a far piece from my truck I spotted a black bear with my night vision that was coming to eat a distressed rabbit, the call I was blowing on for fox & bobcat. I tried hollering and blinding it with lights to no avail. By the time I got in my truck that bear was 20 yards away and seemed genuinely upset as I fired up my truck. I was hunting with my 22 Magnum, at the time it was the legal maximum for fox & bobcat and I didn't want test it on a bear. You said 15', I'm older and a bit wiser, that bear would've got to hear how loud my 10mm is.

I’m going to say something I truly never thought I’d say...
Sounds like you might be ready to get into Big Swimbaits and really focus on Pigs and leave those 2.5 & 3 lb runts alone.?
-
What's more important?
I go both ways.? When fishing alone I normally throw big baits. When I take someone that doesn't fish much it's all about numbers.

One Solution to Crowded Water ~ Fish at Night
Had a hornet crawl/fly up my right shirt sleeve one night and hit me 3 times before could get my shirt off. I had a friend with me, that I'm sure he'd thought I lost my mind with me at 290 lbs jumping around on my decked jon boat, rip off my shirt and start stomping on it. I killed that thing and it had a half inch stinger. Good times.

One Solution to Crowded Water ~ Fish at Night
I'm the thing that goes bump in the night.

Best hollow frog
I dropped my rod length to 7' from 7'6" and it's much less stress on my wrist.
-
stradic c14+ line ??
On my Stradic ci4+ 2500 I fish 10 lb Berkley Fireline Ultra 8
-
Finesse worms
Zoom Finesse in black on a Buckeye Spotsticker Pro 1/8 oz jig head at night once the water hits 84 degrees. Tried many others, it just works.
-
Best hollow frog
Terminator popping frogs walks easily straight out the package. Got some Jackall Gavachos coming from TW (hopefully before frog seasons over) that supposedly walk great.

Confidence
I have confidence that all my baits will catch fish or else I wouldn't haul them around. Me choosing the right one and how to fish it, at the right time is where the problem usually occurs. Over the years I've got exponentially better. I can get on a bunch of dinks or a couple good one's, but my goal is to consistently catch 8 - 10 three to five lbers.?

How Big on a UL?
I caught a 7.2 lb LM on 2 lb mono on a 4' UL rod and tiny Quantum spinning reel while bream fishing with a Renosky Keystone Minnow. It was a 3 to 4 minute fight in open water. It took a bit of time to revive that fish.
