Freshwater Eels
I took 4 bass home that didn't survive the summer livewell ride after a local night tournement. A 4lb LM had a 18" freshly eaten eel in it's stomach. I shot a 49 " freshwater eel one night bowfishing it was black with a light colored speckled belly. After those two encounters I started and will still throw 10" and 12" worms at night.

Thoughts
It takes a community to raise a bass fisherman. ? We all have the same addiction/passion. BR is a great place with alot of great folks willing to share information that was gained through many many hours on the water. I learn something every time I log in.

What, to you, is a “nice” bass?
Depends on the body of water. A 2 lber caught in a knee deep creek that's 25' wide is much bigger than a 2lber caught in a pond/lake. With that said, catching a 4 lber let's me know I'm in a big fish area.

Anyone use rod floats?
After you break them the first time , they heal back stronger , so you really don't need the cushion. If you haven't broken ribs setting the hook you haven't completely devoted yourself. It's like a callus only with bones.?

Is “Picasso” a reputable brand?
That Picasso junk will never be attached to my Zebco 202 and Ugly Stick.?

My boating etiquette issue.
If I'm fishing by myself it's because I want to be alone. The dock/ramp is where I'll tell you I was catching them on a Chartreuse 3/8 ounce Rattling Beetle Spin every other cast. Many will do exactly what you did but drop a waypoint on that spot that somebody else worked to find.

Any Whopper Plopper 130 Size Users ?
I fish the 75 to 190. The WP size I fish on any trip is determined by the size of the body of water. In ponds I throw the 75 & 110, on lakes the 110 & 130. The 190 is for night LM trips only.

What's your "hard head" bait?
Hollow Body Frog. I find myself still throwing it 1 to 2 hours after the morning frog bites off.

A few “myths” to think about
I DO NOT EAT BASS! More than twice a week.?

scent
I do catch more fish when I remember to use it. I don't think it increases the # of hits by attracting fish. I do think they hold on to it longer giving me more time to sense them and set the hook.

paint for jon boats
Hunters Specialties rattle can and stencils. It's held up great for 13 years. Only pic from outside the boat I have was during the pod installation.

Seafoam Creep
Performed a decarb on my 2005 Mercury 25 hp 2 stroke that was hesitating during acceleration. Warmed up the engine and sprayed the Seafoam Creep into the intake and shut it off for a 15 minute soak. Ran the engine for 8 to 10 minutes and then repeated the soak and run a second time. The carbon that came out in my run barrel was quite shocking. Put new plugs in and took it fishing a couple days later. Fired up easily which is normal, but it accelerated perfectly and I gained 2 mph per GPS. Wow! It does smoke heavily for a few minutes as it's burning off loose carbon. I'm going to start decarbing twice a year. Might be worth a try if your performance has fallen off over the years.

Go to frog?
I've been catching them lately fishing surface weed edges with the Terminator Popping frog in Yellow Leopard. It's easy to walk and has a decent hookup rate. Also it's pretty durable as I've caught 31 bass on the one I've got tied on.

I've been out fished by my fishing partner too many times while fishing plastics. I've since picked up my own bottle.

Hooks on Whopper Plopper - do you change them?
From the 75 to the 190 WP, all my hooks are factory and plenty sharp. You gonna miss them sometimes no matter what you do.

Jig strike detection
Thank you WRB. I've had the Spotted Bass bite and think it was bluegill. I switched from a 1/4 oz finesse jig/trailer to a 1/16 oz Missle Bait micro jig with a 1& 1/4" tail end of a trick worm and greatly improved my hit/catch ratio.

Things that really frustrate me about some fishermen.
Don't give up on doing the right thing. I pick up other folks trash every fishing trip. I was raised to treat anything you are using just like you own it. Unfortunately not every outdoorsmen is a conservationist.
