I turned 51 last week and with my 98 year old back(per my Doc), I'm well past my physical prime. I'm on no prescribed meds and I think I'm in my mental prime when it comes to fishing. I quickly locate and catch more fish now than when I was able to fish 5 - 7 days a week.

Yesterday, 7a - 1p water is 72 degress. It was slow and still no signs of a Shad spawn. I caught 6, here's the best 3. Rainy, overcast, with a little wind, should've been on fire.

I tried after reading our 15.6 lb lake record LM was caught trolling crankbaits. But the constant battle with surface floating Eel Grass put my fire out. I do troll for Blue Cats.

I know it's not gear related but fishing pressure is the biggest change I've seen. The number of people on the water is crazy nowadays. Which is good & bad. Our fish are definitely wiser from seeing a gazillion different baits.
