Some folks just don't know their own strength. I've permanently bent 1,000 lb barbells lifting weights and never broke a rod on a a fish.

Often in light, moderate, and This is Almost Dangerous winds I've caught bass 360 degrees around the boat. I believe the deeper it is the less the wind direction or strength matters. If I'm fishing a lure(Jerkbait, Squarebill, Topwater, Spinnerbait, etc.) above them I'll cast in any direction. In shallow water I do feel casting into and across the winds is beneficial when you're putting a bait in their face.

Could be as simple as a bad/old spool of line. As others above have stated 15 lb BG is pretty strong. I'd get a new spool and change it.

I'm with @Cbump but I prefer a Rattling Beetle Spin with a micro willow leaf blade.

I can eat enough hotdogs. My 260 lbs isn't sustainable without sufficient caloric intake.

Don't fish history is hogwash. The very first dock light I pulled up to at a lake I have fished in over two years, I caught 3 bass in 10 - 12 cast. Why did I stop there, HISTORY. Those fish might not be there come Fall, Winter, and Spring but I only fish that particular lake at night during the Summer. Community holes = History
