@pdxfisher I left the emoji for the last sentence 😉 It’s awesome to read a positive post such as this regarding your medical history and I wish you nothing but positive thoughts going forward. If you don’t mind my asking I’m curious why anyone would keep a sturgeon regardless of size and what exactly besides their roe is edible. I’m hopeful this question doesn’t come across as anything but curiosity considering your comment of “would have been in the keeper range if there were a season” I have nothing against legal harvesting and feel it is actually a good practice.

@Boomstick I’m not trying to be ignorant but I don’t think Shimano makes a 150 size MGL in the SLX lineup. They do make a 150 MGL in the Curado and I believe higher lines.

@QuirkyCarp2000 The spool is a smaller size (less line capacity) also MGL stands for mag light which means it’s lighter for a quicker start up and able to throw lighter lures. There’s a few more differences and as I offered check You Tube for a more thorough explanation.

@QuirkyCarp2000 I had a standard (150) SLX that I sold off which I’m still regretting and just received my SLX MGL (70) sized spool from Japan. At the $99.00 price point I think it’s a fantastic deal. Search on You Tube and you’ll be hard pressed to find anything negative about them. If so inclined search Tackle Advisor for an in depth review or Debos Fishing for a slightly less informative but still great reel review.

My favorite is when my brother shot my neighbors bobber with a BB gun while we were bank fishing in my youth and my neighbor kept setting the hook wondering why he couldn’t get a good hook set with me my brother his buddy my dad and his dad all holding a straight face for what felt like forever but was probably no more than a few minutes. Finally his dad goes over to him and fills him in on what’s happening with some colorful language to boot which made us bust up laughing even more.

@07Rapala I have a 13 fishing fate black spinning rod in med light that I feel would work well for what you’re describing but I’m not sure if they’re available at least not on Tackle Warehouse. Also not sure of what you’re looking to spend but 13 fishing offers the med light in quite a few of there rods.

If someone could refresh my memory on the screwup I’d be grateful so I can watch for it this year 😃

@TnRiver46 I’ve never tried Narragansett Lager let alone even seen it for sale near me but after a quick google search I’d give it a shot as I do enjoy a good Marzen brew.

In keeping with my theme of mixed 12 packs for the past 2 weeks I’ve purchased “Revolution Brewing’s” mixed 12 pack of IPA’s. Anyone who enjoys beer in the Chicagoland area knows Revolution Brewing. I will say they are fresh😃 Also was gifted a 4 pack of “S’mores Pastry Stout” from Goliath Brewing Co. by a co-worker who doesn’t like beer and it was given to him. All I can say is WOW it’s SWEET with a pour similar to Guinness in that it doesn’t open up and leaves very little foam head. I definitely can only have 1 of these and the other 3 are in the fridge for when the mood strikes.

I started throwing them on an Okuma TCS 7’-0” med + rod rated 3/8-3/4.

Also a vote for an oldie but goodie is American Werewolf In London. Great mixture of humor and scare. My dad was a horror film fan which is why I enjoy them also.

Although I have yet to see it due to my wife not liking horror films my daughter and her friend watched “Hereditary” which came out in 2018. I watched the trailer and it definitely looks twisted. I’ll get a chance to watch it in a few weeks when the wife goes out with friends for the evening.

After reading this thread I decided to pull the trigger on a SLX MGL. I went through Japan Lure Shop as they were the cheapest and in stock. The only problem I have is they only accept PayPal which A caused my credit card to be frozen until I called and okayed the transaction and the fact PayPal charged me $5.00 in transaction fees. I still wound up saving $40.00 over buying locally and if JPL still includes the bonus lure it will make me that much happier.
