2024 fishing license
Good old Illinois, speaking from experience, a good place to be from and never go back to.

Sunline Super FC Sniper Stretch
For years I was loyal to Berkley Fluorocarbon 15# but began to wonder about the amount of stretch. When I would become hopelessly snagged and needed to break off, the line would stretch so much before breaking that it was a time consuming chore, no matter what methods I attempted; so I bought a single spool of 16# Sniper. Big difference, much less stretch.

2024 fishing license
Thankyou, first I've heard of that. Where I am, extra rods are allowed on the lake, but more than one on the river may get you free room and board in an Arkansas 1 star lockup hotel.

Zillion is a great reel, why did you want to make changes?

The latest sale thread
I've been trying to order reel replacement parts from them; I leave messages but receive no call back. Anyone know if this is a dead issue?

Drop Off
It was Michigan over Bama 27/20 in overtime. Too bad someone had to lose.

The boat market is crashing
Ranger boats went on a 3 day work week in 2023 and moved Triton back into the Ranger facility. Their lot is the emptiest I've seen it in the past 12 years, and most of that inventory seems to consist of small aluminum boats designed for hunting.

Barotrauma: BAD SCIENCE Truths & Tips For Release
I'm 100% catch and release and always have a fizzing needle in the boat. Most people do not.

2024 fishing license
Don't remember 16 years back, but I bought a 65 and over lifetime hunting, fishing license and trout stamp, it was very inexpensive. I live on Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas, and pay $10 per year to hunt and fish on the Missouri side.

Note To Self: Don’t Do That Again
I often fish for Brown Trout on the famous White River in Arkansas. Most of the river boats, including mine, are long and flat bottom with small motors. Dense fog comes in with little warning and quite often. Most boats do not come with bow and stern lights, mine has them, but the fog is usually so dense that I can barely make out the bow light while in back and running the motor. Knowing there are river jockeys going full throttle and inexperienced boaters sharing the water is scary as hell. I usually fish alone, but one time I got very lucky and had a friend with me at the right time. We were 8 miles downstream from the launch when fog began and in minutes we were fully enveloped (afternoon fog will stay until the next morning). I had a floodlight on board, most boats do not. My friend sat in front with the floodlight and was able to keep us between the banks, going extremely slow. Suddenly he yelled for me to make a hard left, which I did. There was a wade fisherman standing in the middle of the river and I missed him by no more than 2 feet; if I had been alone I would have run right over him.

Working to Stay Lean ~
Good for you A-Jay, you're to be admired. I first walked into a gym 40 years ago and immediately became addicted to pumping iron; very little desire for cardio. Today I am 81 years old and still hit the gym at 5:00 A.M. at least 5 or 6 days a week. The only negative is that it sometimes cuts into my time on the water. Gray Power still rocks.

Well, I finally launched without the drain plug
I did it once. It was the first time I launched "after" a new regulation was put into effect that required drain plugs to be out when trailering a boat.

Does anyone use a Flogger?
This past year I noticed Pros using them in tournaments, and others using them on my home lake. How effective are they and what is their range in water that is pretty clear? I'm thinking that if I'm sitting over a school of fish and cannot get a bite, it would be interesting to know the species.

New Lines You Want To Try ?
I've been loyal to 15# Berkley 100% fluorocarbon for a long time, both for leaders and mainline. I recently bought a single spool of Sunline Sniper 16# to compare, but have not yet tried it. Can anyone tell me what to expect with the comparison?

XPS baits
I pulled away from them years ago. It seemed that tackle with their brand name usually had been cheapened in quality, one way or another. For example, the lures came with low grade hooks.

Reels for heavier applications
The Catalina is not generally familiar to the masses but I find it to be a great reel for many purposes; I always have one on board.

How many, how big, and why?
I live on one of those forementioned lakes you listed, and you are correct about being over run with tournaments. Not to mention one very large annual tournament by name, but after the pre-fishing and the actual tournament, there are dead bass floating everywhere. Anyone else experience this?

Suggestions for baitcaster tatula vs curado vs slx
ZILLION SVTW and TATULA SVTW all the way. I have a boat full of them, and won't buy anything else. I used to be a Shimano guy.

Do you find buzzbaits "fussy"? And what's your Love-Hate bait?
Hollow body frogs. Began using them a year ago when the lake was about 30 feet high and into the woods. Lots of bites, few hooksets, a new learning experience.

Please help……
I still have 63 degree water, but he would not let me leave my laptop. I may check with State Fish and Game to update myself on the legal times and methods for harvesting that critter.

Advice?
Very thorough advice, but from experience I have one recommendation to add about dropping the tailgate. Watch out! When attempting a sharp turn while backing, be very careful your tailgate does make contact with the trailer, especially if you have steps on the front. New tailgates are expensive. Proofreading my suggestion, I meant to say "be very careful your tailgate does NOT make contact with the trailer". Sorry for the confusion.

spoonin'
Bass fishing with jigging spoons is an art, especially when a body of water is loaded with shad. I would like to create this topic to gather input from masters of this art with a proven track record. I believe they are in the minority of regular contributors.
