  1. There are lots of guys who do custom pours. Tackle underground has a bunch of members who sell their puoducts as does the custom bait site. You probably will have to register to be able to post.
  2. Curado 150 DC is a good fit for anything.
  3. Comfort is a consideration if you are going to have it on all day. I’m on my third one. I finally found one that I can stand to wear. It is the Mustang. It is pricey but it is also my life.
  4. There are some essentials for getting started. plastisol……….$40 gloves………….. 10 heat source……. 50 mold……………. 100 glitter……………. 30 colorant………. 50 injector…………. 80 These are just ball park figures for some of the things that you will need to get started. It is a great hobby but know there is no end to buying molds and other items. I’ve been making my own baits for a very long time and mold makers keep me buying new molds.
  5. We have a local shop which has components that I can get when I want to make them.
  6. I have just started using it upon roadwarrior’s advice. I’m impressed with the strength. I have 6# on 5 Ned setups.
  7. Even the Garmin and Lowrance units with live view (Humminbird hasn’t released Mega Live yet) and can look forward aren’t designed to do that while you are motoring. They are on a mount or the trolling motor which negates being able to move more than idle speed. A good set of contour maps for you to study and a good mapping card in a gps/sonar is probably the best option for you.
  8. Maybe it is a regional climate thing. I only re-grease my reels yearly. Reel butter stays yellow here in MO.
  9. All I can say is before I had any fluorocarbon line I took a friend’s son fishing. I had mono, he had fluorocarbon. It took me two trips of getting my butt waxed from the back of my boat fishing Shaky to bite the bullet and buy fluorocarbon. Of the dozen and a half setups in my boat only two have mono on them.
  10. I have been using the yellow Ardent reel butter on gears for years. Shimano is the only oil that I use.
  11. Depends on what you want. You might want to check Janns, Barlows, Lure Craft, Do It just to name a few. I make all of my open pour molds.

  13. Lots of fly tying shops are set up to replace them if you have one in your area.
  14. I didn’t read where you described just what you do when you get a bite. Can you explain from bite to hook set where the rod tip is and what you do?
  15. Sometimes match sometimes not. One of the best summer full moon combinations I have had is a red jig with a white trailer.
  16. That’s a different color horse. In thr 90s OMC outsourced a lot of parts to overseas (China) I think. They had lots of problems. Genmar then bought them out and tried to resurrect them. After them came Bombardier, a branch of the Leir Jet people. I spent 2 days in a district meeting with them and they wouldn’t even entertain ideas from the midwest. They marched to their own drummer. I wasn’t surprised when they pulled the plug and decided to play another game. I’m surprised they didn’t do it sooner.
  17. I got my butt handed to me from the back of the boat two times in a row, me mono the guy in the back fluorocarbon. Now all of my setups except Arig are fluorocarbon.
  18. Do you know that they are compatible with different sonar units?
  19. I’ve never seen an R wire spinnerbait that wouldn’t bend out unless it is modified. I use War Eagle or make my own. I wrap the R loop with braided line or floral wire. Then I cover it with heat shrink tubing. They bend, but not badly. I haven’t had a broken wire in years. The top one is homemade. The bottom one is War Eagle.
  20. Redundant I guess. For example, yesterday I had 2 jig setups, 2 shaky, and 3 Neds on the deck along with 1 spinner bait on the deck. It was a bit crowded.
  21. Today it was Elaztech worms rigged shaky. We caught 23 this morning. However, we only managed 4 keepers.
  22. Nope but I got you covered. I’m going twice a week and will pick it up to three days as soon as it cools down a little.
  23. We have a big jig off shore bite going on. I’ve been using 1/2 and 1 oz jigs with craw trailers 25-35’ deep.
  24. I have it on several spinning reels. It does ok as long as I use 10# and less. KVD conditioner helps.
