  1. I’ve owned Nitro, Champion, and Ranger. They all floated and fished fine. I have no experience with other brands. My choice of those three in an older boat would be a Champion 196 or 206 elite.
  2. I give them to high school fishing teams.
  3. If you don’t have one, get a fish tape. https://www.harborfreight.com/50-ft-fish-tape-38156.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=12169054043&campaignid=12169054043&utm_content=125548902708&adsetid=125548902708&product=38156&store=93&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItr2NlIGa8wIVURh9Ch15VgvpEAQYASABEgJXLPD_BwE
  4. I use an excel spreadsheet. I’ve been using it for a long time.
  5. I find a rural high school team with kids who need stuff and donate it to them.
  6. I had a Gloomis come looking worse than that. I’ve been using it for several years now.
  7. You can try my local shop. They have various parts lying around. If they don’t, they may lead you to a source. All it will take is a call. Marine Repair Center Springfield, MO 417-833-9191 ask for Scott.
  8. Carpal tunnel syndrome caused me to only be able to fish for about 20 minutes without changing hands. I couldn’t do it with bait casting setups so I did it with spinning and only had to change the handle.
  9. There is a Shimano buy sell trade section on Face Book you might find one there.
  10. Don’t you have a title for the motor?
  11. I make my own jigs and my own trailers. They get put on at the same time maybe before the trip or during and they stay on unless the trailer gets torn. I have 2 setups in the boat with jigs and craws that have been tied on for 2 weeks.
  12. That would be twice as long as the rule around here.
  13. There are lots of guys who do custom pours. Tackle underground has a bunch of members who sell their puoducts as does the custom bait site. You probably will have to register to be able to post.
  14. Curado 150 DC is a good fit for anything.
  15. Comfort is a consideration if you are going to have it on all day. I’m on my third one. I finally found one that I can stand to wear. It is the Mustang. It is pricey but it is also my life.
  16. There are some essentials for getting started. plastisol……….$40 gloves………….. 10 heat source……. 50 mold……………. 100 glitter……………. 30 colorant………. 50 injector…………. 80 These are just ball park figures for some of the things that you will need to get started. It is a great hobby but know there is no end to buying molds and other items. I’ve been making my own baits for a very long time and mold makers keep me buying new molds.
  17. We have a local shop which has components that I can get when I want to make them.
  18. I have just started using it upon roadwarrior’s advice. I’m impressed with the strength. I have 6# on 5 Ned setups.
  19. Even the Garmin and Lowrance units with live view (Humminbird hasn’t released Mega Live yet) and can look forward aren’t designed to do that while you are motoring. They are on a mount or the trolling motor which negates being able to move more than idle speed. A good set of contour maps for you to study and a good mapping card in a gps/sonar is probably the best option for you.
  20. Maybe it is a regional climate thing. I only re-grease my reels yearly. Reel butter stays yellow here in MO.
  21. All I can say is before I had any fluorocarbon line I took a friend’s son fishing. I had mono, he had fluorocarbon. It took me two trips of getting my butt waxed from the back of my boat fishing Shaky to bite the bullet and buy fluorocarbon. Of the dozen and a half setups in my boat only two have mono on them.
  22. I have been using the yellow Ardent reel butter on gears for years. Shimano is the only oil that I use.
