Connecting old plug to new trolling motor
You might want to do some more researching before you proceed. There is a different train of thought out there about soldering wires in a boat.

Best 300$ finesse rod
I think you need at least 2 rods. I don’t think a rod for Ned rigs will work very well for those other baits, at least it wouldn’t for me.

Who's throwing Swinging Jigs?
They haven’t been very good for me except at night with a brush hog.

6 species on the board...
A Ned rig might add to your variety. Yesterday we has smb, lmb, spot, white bass, walleye, and crappie on Neds.

New Senko Rod
X2 I have a shaky rod that I really like. It was made by the previous owners of Ark Rods. They have changed hands. So I can’t replace it. I took it to a local rod builder. I told him I wanted a rod similar to it. He built me one that is way better than the one that I really like. That’s why I X2 on roadwarrior’s post.

Ned rig rod?
My bc Ned is a 6’9” Gloomis ML Bronzeback with a Shimano 70 XG and 6# fluorocarbon line.

Hook Emergency
I had a bass put a spook in the underside of a finger, down to the shank. My wife was along. I couldn’t get her to try the line thing. I tried it myself with no luck. I was in another state out in the sticks. Miles from any town. I took a pair of needle nosed pliers and a deep breath and took it out, wrapped up the finger and kept on fishing. Nothing about that was fun. Since then I rarely use anything with treble hooks.

What's On Your Deck?
Always there will be a spinnerbait, at least a shaky and a Ned with several more of each in the rod locker. Sometimes multiples of each are on the deck.

Lure Modifications
I modify many different types of baits for several different species. One mod that probably won’t make it product more but will definitely extend the life of an R wire spinnerbait is to wrap the bend with braid or light wire. It will triple or more the life and doesn’t have any effect on the way the bait functions. I also cover the wire with shrink tubing to keep it from catching the line.

Dog eating trying to eat fish that I catch
It sounds like the dog is no where as trained as it could be. It takes a lot of time to get a dog fully trained. Your best bet will be to put it in the garage or tie it up while you are fishing.

Humminbird Helix Help (South Georgia)
A picture of the install would really help.

Tight Line or Slack Line hookset?
For me it depends on the bait that I am using and whether or not the fish are aggressive.

Meanmouth??
Clayton yours is a lot prettier than mine. Mine was just plain butt ugly. We have largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass. The meanmouth is a hybrid that had started showing up in some of our lakes. They can be a smallmouth/spotted cross or a smallmouth/largemouth cross.

Do you have to thumb a baitcaster?
Maybe not if you have a DC reel.

Fluorocarbon on spinning reel?
I thought that until I let a guy beat me like left handed step child. I switched to fluorocarbon and leveled the playing field.

Fluorocarbon on spinning reel?
I have Seaguar red label fluorocarbon line on 7 spinning setups. 4 of them have 6# and 3 of them have 10#. I have no problem with it. However, I can’t use more than 10#.

A rig what I like, what I don't
I use 7’ heavy rods for my Arigs. I make my own flash mob style. I use 1/16 oz heads with 4/0 hooks to keep the weight down. I use flukes and swimbaits on them. Around here they are ineffective after March.

Meanmouth??
You wouldn’t on Stockton. Spots rarely live long enough to get to 15 inches down there. They are also pretty rare. In the last three trips we have caught over 100 bass and not a single spot in the bunch.

Meanmouth??
It was caught at Stockton Lake in SWMO. It was on a secondary point in about 3 feet of water. I caught it on a Ned rig, New Money TRD. It weighed 4.25 #. That is the largest one for me so far. They are pretty rare. I only catch 2 or 3 a year.

Flouro line only last so long?
I use Seaguar Red label. I change it yearly except for 6# it only seems to last a few months.
