Tubes used to be my go to bait. I make my own. Green pumpkin, smoke, and black neon were the best three colors. White was a very good producer in the winter. Lately I haven’t been able to get a bite on them so have about quit using them.

Grasshopper, be patient and save your money. When everything closed down due to Covid fishing wasn’t prohibited. Soon there weren’t even kayaks to be had. I’m guessing that your area is similar. I’m also guessing that many of them will “see the error of their ways” and flood the market with used boats and campers in a year or two.

I used to be in the business. If you get a look at the financial status of a many of those guys you will find that they owe a lot of money. The typical guy with whom I dealt was only interested in how big the payment was going to be, not the amount of the loan, the length of the loan or the interest rate. A lot of them even wanted to finance the sales tax because they didn’t have the funds to cover it. They started out “upside down” from day one and stayed that way.

That is normal in today’s world as there are so many choices.

Like Allen stated, color recipes are what it is all about. I keep a book devoted just for plastic recipes. I write down how much plastisol is put in the cup, how many drops of which colorant I use and each glitter color size and amount. One of my best baits is a laminate which only takes 1 drop each of two different colorants per 2 ounces of plastisol while some others take 10 so records are imperative if you want accurate repetition. That is one bait that doesn’t work much for me. I have a double tail grub mold and several hundred Yamamoto skirts but even when I am catching on a Ned and substitute them it’s a no go. I hope that swimming them will work once I get Mega Live installed.

One of the hardest things I have ever done was trying to catch the other guy’s fish. Even in the same boat it can be nearly impossible.

I don’t know much about it but I took my favorite shaky rod to a builder and told him that I wanted one similar. He asked all kinds of questions along with what reel I would be using and its weight. He said he needed that to make the balance correct. The completed rod is now my very favorite shaky rod.

When I was in the boat business and had first time boat owners a part of my delivery was to take them out back to our private pond where we tested repairs. I showed them how to launch and load their boat as well as discussed ramp and parking lot etiquette. Then I would have them practice until they were comfortable.

Having a good console gps with the map screen up can show you depth contours and the channel is imperative if you are in an unfamiliar area. Buying a good map and studying it before you go to the lake can also help you prepare for how and where you are going to run your boat. Experience and knowledge cant be beat though.

Something isn’t right. Have you checked the P2P. I had that same motor on a Champion 206. It ran 65 mph at 5400 rpms.

A tear shaped bobber is best because it will stand up and let you know a fish is there before it takes the bobber down. I’ve had no kuck with any jigs other than craft hair.

Geewhiz guys what is all of this talk about age and computers. I doubt any of you are close to my age. I was stuck in a no end job when Apple came out with the IIE. I spent a few months pay check and bought one along with a dot matrix printer. I taught myself how to program in basic because there really wasn’t any thing else. I spent countless hours learning data base and spreadsheets. It got to the point where local companies were contacting me for assistance. I turned my knowledge into my dream job. Since then I have retired from two other professions. All I do now is fish in a Nitro Z20 with a 250 four stroke Mercury equipped with 3 Humminbird Etherneted Solix units, and a Minn Kota Ipilot linked blue tooth Ulterra trolling motor, along with an asgps heading sensor and next week I will have a Mega live transducer installed. So don’t talk old and out of touch as it is a personal preference.

Mine is three days of the wind being from the same direction. That sets up the food chain. It moves the algae which is followed by the zooplankton then the shad and lastly the game fish to feed on the shad.

That will work just fine. I have done that when using a bunch in the same size and wanting them handy.

I haven’t counted them but I am guessing that I have several hundred in the boat.

This works for me. I get the bags at Hobby Lobby and staple them to poster board strips. I keep those in tackle binders by weight categories.

I always keep mine in the bag they came in. They have been there for years.
