  1. So put one on a TRD and see how it works for you. It was not a good producer for me so I went with smaller hooks.
  2. Champion would be another good choice as would Bass Cat.
  3. If you are using the traditional size baits for Ned rigs you can get a hook that is too large for the bait to function well. I have been doing this type of fishing for many years. I make my own jig heads in various sizes and shapes. I have used hooks from #4 to 4/0. I have found with hooks from 2/0 and larger that I get a lot fewer bites. I have caught lots of fish on the #4 hooks but I can’t get real comfortable with them. I have 5 setups for Ned rigging and have done a lot of experimenting with hook sizes and head weights. I have settled on 2 sizes for my Ned rigs, #2 and 1/0. I don’t make the other sizes at all any more. I you are concerned about the smaller hook pulling out, use light line and at least medium light rods with a loose drag setting.
  4. When I fry fish all I need is the other food group, ketchup. I use all that other stuff for grilled, baked and smoked fish.
  5. I don’t use a trailer on a hair or marabou jig but if I did it would be one that didn’t have much vibration.
  6. Mine won’t use the live well. She has a coffee can in the boat.
  7. You might want to research Cadman’s brush tapping method with powder paint. He can do some amazing things.
  8. I don’t know what you mean by fine details.
  9. You can powder coat jigs with a jar of paint and a candle if necessary. I painted hundreds of them that way before I bought a toaster oven and built a fluid bed.
  10. I have talked to service techs at both Lowrance and Humminbird about this same topic. Some of them say it will ruin the transducer and some say it is ok.
  11. I take advantage of the Bass Pro Service Center 34 point inspection each fall when I get the oil and lower unit serviced on my Verado.
  12. The weedguard shpold be the last thing that goes on the jig.
  13. So are you talking casting or vertical jigging. Guys are already spooning bass over 40’ deep on Table Rock.
  14. Jig Man replied to Jigfishn10's topic in Tacklemaking
Check with Cadman, smalljaw and Mike at Seiberts one of them or maybe even munkin might have them.
  15. I am with RW go over the top. If he isn’t wowed then he doesn’t deserve the stuff so she can return it.
  16. I’m sure that it will be a good selection for you. There is no need to use a large reel for an application that needs only 6# test line. You go with bigger stuff then you are not Ned fishing.
  17. Stradics and Symmetys have been my mainstay though the Sahara is also a good work horse. I don’t even know how many of each I have.
  18. I have 4 designated spinning setups for Ned rig fishing. I use my Shimano 1000s and 2000s with 6# fluorocarbon line. I don’t like braid and leaders. I don’t have any spooling issues with the straight fluorocarbon line. I keep my 2500s for other techniques like shaky and tubes with heavier line.
  19. There is no end to what you can get and use. I have everything that has been listed. I use vice, wire, pliers, side cutters and scissors. If I am thread tying then I don’t need the wire side cutters and pliers.
  20. I use floral wire from Lowes. You also need side cutters and scissors.
  21. I’ve had both. I think Lowrance has the best 2d but Humminbird has the best down and side.
  22. Depends on the bait, spinnerbait and crankbait, give me the front, Ned and shaky I’ll take the back.
  23. We have a Lews Store that is closing. They have a 40% off sale. You might get a deal from them. Sportsmans Factory Outlet is the name. The phone number is 417-881-1635.
  24. The V will give you a better ride and handle rough water better. The semi will give you a more stabile fishing platform.
  25. Google Ned Rig and watch Ned’s video. You will learn stuff.
