  1. Sounds like you made the best out of that situation to me.
  2. Thank you for taking the time to help out, it’s much appreciated.
  3. lol thanks!! Here’s the picture. I even googled trying to figure that out thank you kindly
  4. Really wish I could upload the picture… once moving the lock nut out of the way I was able to twist the threaded part below on and off… I could still use the rod the lock nut itself is now useless. Thanks all I’ve emailed a rod builder. Appreciate the help.
  5. lol with carpentry…. I emailed Thorne bros here in Minnesota and sent them a picture. I know they make custom rods and service reels hopefully they fix rods. Thanks
  6. Looks similar I guess… I should have just called a place that builds/ repairs rods I can text them exact photo.
  7. Went to swap reels today and the lock nut on my perfect pitch was just spinning… I basically just had to push it up towards the blank and take it off without using the lock nut. I’m sure I’m messing terms up hopefully someone gets what I’m saying. To me looks like glue failure. File too big apparently to upload picture and I’m tech challenged. Thanks
  8. Fishing where I do in Minnesota I have no need to sharpen hooks because long before they are going to get dull a pike will surely cut my line and it’s time for a fresh bait.
  9. If you wanted to use a craw I’ve caught plenty on rage craw trailer… cut a segment or so off length but this year I’ve been doing great using an xzone swammer for a trailer.
  10. Love my nrx 873 crr and 844c . As far as reels go I really do love daiwa but the best I own is metanium mgl b…. And I own two new zillions, they are good but don’t cast as far or are as smooth as the metanium imo.
  11. Abu garcia Cardinal with some ugly stick is the first combo I recall, had a daiwa millionaire for trolling no clue what the rod was.
  12. Seth Feider had a pretty realistic take on this in an interview on Dave Mercer podcast. Basically said what others are saying it’s all about sponsor money. About all they can do is have a couple tournaments at certain lakes where you have other as good technique options, flipping, top water, etc.
  13. Lol. I tried straight fluoro on a spinning reel once…. Once
  14. Vmc neko #2 weedless. I’ve used two O rings but usually one and I guess I didn’t notice a difference in the hook up ratio. The monkey lately has been suggesting I need the crossover system though…
  15. Good suggestion. I also fish from a kayak I think from that line I’d go for the 7’1” heavy but certainly a preference thing.
  16. I think people get a little paranoid about the tiniest subtlety like green pumpkin pepper flake over green pumpkin for example, especially on a moving bait you aren’t going to see big differences in my experience anyways. I’ve literally fished rage swimmers as my friend fished keitech multiple times and we’ve traded who catches more and it’s never been obvious either way.
  17. For all the references to the black Max. It’s literally the first bait caster I ever owned. I returned it and bought a daiwa tatula and never looked back. I suppose now after years of using a bait caster I could use the black Max but I wouldn’t want to. In this case I think it’s worth waiting a bit until you feel comfortable spending a bit more and you do indeed get rewarded with quality.
  18. 3oz jerk baits? lol I live in Minnesota and curious what part of the country and what bait you are throwing? Sounds like you need a used (and generously discounted) p5 tequila baccarac
  19. For the chatter bait I’d recommend hog farmer spunk Shad 3.5. I’ve done really well with the bigger version on regular chatter baits. Not super bulky and just kinda lets the lure lead and the trailer reacts.
  20. I’m not sure but that sounds d**n delicious.
  21. 100% 30lb braid to whatever leader makes sense for what you’re throwing. But apparently I’ma unicorn that doesn’t have 50 scary knot fails a day….. so yeah that’s just me It’s starting to remind me of the ufc “fans” in attendance that just yell ric flair woooooh! Which I counter but just watching the fights and listening to music.
  22. I think my aversion to finesse is sorta like when the gps says I’ll get to a destination two minutes earlier if I use the highway in gridlock and I choose to take backroads where I keep moving. You aren’t wrong for going the faster route maybe flaws in me that choose the other path.
  23. I’m not really just starting I fish out of a pedal kayak, somewhat limited. I’ve sold and worked my way up to 7 pretty high end combos vs more combos. What I can afford anyways I’ve seen other peoples arsenals on here lol
  24. No issue with that. I have 6 bait casting combos and one spinning… I need to fight the monkey and not replace my one spinning! lol
  25. I’ve pretty much done the opposite. I don’t like the idea of so much technology which is partially what I think drives the more finesse end of it. I think in the next ten years or so we will start seeing an impact on people using this tech and on certain fish people harvest for food… this will undoubtedly impact our beloved bass. I hope I’m wrong. I personally like power fishing to hopefully find some fish then may slow it down a bit. Maybe I got off on a tangent didn’t mean to derail thread
