Sabine River Elite series
We barely have any waters big enough that allow unrestricted horsepower for 50 anglers let alone a lake that would accommodate 100. Pa is probably one of the worst destinstion fishing places. I agree - the St Lawrence smallmouth bass fishing is all carbon copy fish and relatively dull techniques to watch.

Sabine River Elite series
There just isn't many places that can host an elite series tournament. Pennsylvania, like a lot of states, doesn't have a single lake that could host an event. And you have to schedule 2 tournaments back to back that are close to each other which limits it even more. It's nice to see the elites struggling and it's equally thrilling to see them easily hitting century marks at Fork.

Sabine River Elite series
I think the Pittsburgh event was the best one ever. When ounces are separating everyone and they are all catching loads of fish, its interesting to see. Watching anglers pull away by 10, 15 or 20 lbs in a few days from the rest of the field presents a very stagnant last day

NPFL tourney
If anything...scoping has decreased the gap between seniors and young anglers if the older, more experienced anglers, learned FFS. It used to be the better anglers were the ones that could make twice as many casts and put their lure in more fishes faces. With FFS you only need to make targeted casts at fish/cover which is less physically demanding.

TWO Boating Accidents At Pro Tournaments Today. 3 Killed.
Flint is a young boater - all of us were young once and younger men tend to be a bit reckless and push the envelope. This is something he can't twke back and is going to have a lasting and dramatic effect on his life. All you can do is pray for all those involved... tragic.

Matt Robertson stolen tackle
I am sure it's more than the money - a lot of sentimental things and a lot of time rigging and organizing baits for certain bodies of water. Hard to put a monetary value on that stuff.

Matt Robertson stolen tackle
Honestly I can't believe someone would do this to someone's livelihood. Just awful. This serves as a reminder to always lock your stuff up and keep your boat/truck in a highly visible location. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/198u3abWfg/

Bearing oil
You're right. Now should I go with a green pumpkin jig that has 3 strands of chartreuse or 4? Maybe watermelon instead?

Roro TX25S spool for Salamandura Air
Does anyone know where I can get a Roro TX25S spool for a Daiwa Salamandura Air TW? I wanted to try one but they are OOS. Or is there something that may be equivalent out there? Thanks

Reels on AliExpress??
No lie.

What’s the best flourocarbon that’s not super expensive?
I think the best fluoro on the market, hands down is Gamma. I don't even look at others anymore.
-
What do you buy more often, new or used reels?
About 25% used and 75% new.
-
Reels on AliExpress??
I have 3 Salamandura reels from there. Shipping takes a bit but the pricing is fair. Most of my reels are purchased from Japan because the prices are much better and shipping is much faster.

Zillion knob solution
Whats wrong with the small knobs? I freaking hate all the big ass knobs people are throwing on reels like gomexus.
-
Are you currently using any Temu rods or reels?
I have bought a few Salamandura's off Ali Express. No regrets.

Why did Daiwa remove the Air Bail from the new LT spinning reels?
A lot of this is truth - look at their Tatula Spinning reels now - the newer MQ are heavier than the former LT. They moved some features to more expensive lines and they also removed the anti-reverse switch.

A few line questions
When I was a younger 2 rod bank fisherman I fished straight 40 lb braid all the time. You get a lot more use out of the braid and at 40 lb it's thin enough to not really affect action on lures and thick enough, if you DO backlash, can easily be picked out. Don't use cheap fluoro - you will lose lures and that sucks. Moving baits like chatters you don't need a leader or copoly/fluoro and I am convinced it doesn't decrease your bites.
- Why do certain similar baits work better?
-
Rod socks- need reccos
The older ones were too thick and exactly like you are thinking- the new ones are super lightweight and the hooks don't get stuck in them. The mesh ones attract treble hooks like crap attracts flies.
-
Rod socks- need reccos
The new light rod glove neoprene covers are the best I have had. I will eventually replace all of them with these
-
Northerners - what are you rigging up for the first trip out?
Mostly gliders. Maybe a jerkbait and a hair jig briefly.

I don't know what it is but the noise in that Heddon commercial is irritating.

Do you still replace your spool bearings to ceramic hybrids?
Hear me out - I put ceramics in a lot of my reels under the main gear and on the worm gear pawl. These are the two areas that may not get oiled as frequently and are subject to buildup and rust, so I put dry ceramics in and forget about them. Optionally( and you see this in some reels already) you can put in bushings since a ball bearing isn't needed here. I have serviced a lot of reels over my years and the two areas I mention are some of the biggest areas where rusted bearings rear their ugly head.

Okeechobee
I don't know- when I have one hooked on a crank I am pretty confident I am going to land it. They don't usually shake them.
