What are your 3-5 go to lures for water temps under 50*

Is it even worth it to throw big swimbait?
I dont throw them thinking about 4-5 lbers. I throw them for the 6lb+ fish that are harder to find but are there...

I mean, you are wrong. He is a huge ambassador to the sport, including a lot of kids. To mark someone based off a few antics when he was younger while performing his job and passion is inane.

2025 BASS elite schedule
I think to be a big league you need to have a lot more diversity as far as regions in the country go. Despite what Texas does for bass fishing, they shouldn't have 3 of the 10 events. And Florida doesn't need 2. It's no wonder that most bass fishing pros are in the South, the best majority of tournaments are during the spawn in the south. Bed fishing should be outlawed. Generally considered one of the worst classics ever was in Pittsburgh but I thought it was great seeing them figure out a really tough Fishery. I don't want to see these guys always catching 20+ lb sacks - that's just not the way most of the countries fishing is... They should definitely throw in 1 or 2 tidal Fisheries as well. Every major sport goes all over the country and many even expand to international countries. However BASS is stuck going to a few defined Fisheries and states. It really kind of stinks. They don't have coanglers and there are only 100 boats. They could do a little better and expand to other parts of the country and run the season all the way to November. I think they should run 1 event per month for the year. And as previously mentioned they could do all kinds of cool things - team events, buddy tournaments, etc. Fish like a lot of the local clubs around the country so the weekend anglers can relate more.

BASS new electronic restrictions
I believe they should cut back the HP of these boats.

Skipping?
There is nothing louder than smacking a 1oz jig off a pontoon at 630 in the morning.
-
Skipping?
I am fairly proficient at skipping with a baitcaster. One thing people get wrong is that they tighten up the spool tension and try to baby it in there - it's quite the opposite. Loosen that baby up and let her rip with your thumb right on the spool. It really comes down to that initial place the lure hits the water and is a similar motion and angle to skipping rock. The lure should hit the water pretty close to where you are casting from and just keep skipping until it gets to its target. I always aim for a spot 10 yards past where I want to end up and when my lure gets to the spot, I thumb the spool preventing any backlash. Problems arise when your lure comes in contact with something(dock, pontoon, etc.) or you hit a wave. Skipping jigs and chattwrbaits is great but I will also skip spinnerbaits and soft swimbaits a lot.

St Lawrence River - Elite
I like Zona, Mercer though...uggh. I usually mute the broadcast when he is on.

St Lawrence River - Elite
I always see bits and pieces of his schpiel but have never subscribed to him. He doesn't seem to teach much in regards to anything innovative or new.

St Lawrence River - Elite
Randy has a lot of supporters that are older and don't use FFS but to keep their sponsors and not lose fans they keep quiet and don't associate so much with people like Randy. The way thw Johnston brothers operate BASS may as well set up "teams" like NASCAR has....

Pending state record northern strain largemouth released
Word is, caught on a wacky worm off the end of a boat dock. Anyone that has fished Cayuga knows it's like thr Jurassic park of Bass fishing. Sooo many bass and they are so big. 5's are pretty common. They need to put gobies in all the northern lakes. Lol

Abu Garcia vengeance tension knob not working/broken
That's a new one - you have any pictures? Are you sure you are getting the threads engaged when you screw it on? I had a reel once that the spool shaft moved laterally towards the spool tension knob and wouldn't work. Maybe this?

Favorite tackle shop?
Eastern PA- Wackyworm in Gilbert.

Spinning reel spool question...
Daiwa doesn't sell the knobs separately but you can get them from Ali Express and other places for cheap.

Boat Nearly Collides With Kayak.....
I know boaters that purposely wash out kayakers when they are out on the lake...

St John’s River
Maybe guys wouldn't be such sponsorship sluts if there was a "Team Trophy" each year?
-
St John’s River
I disagree - it should be a team sport. Team Daiwa guys should share info, strike king guys should team up, etc. Mercer is the worst. Can't stand him

Worst week
I have had a terrible week and the only minor consolation is a New Jersey 7 lb fish... lessons were learned I suppose and I don't think I am going to fish for a little bit. It started over the weekenf when someone stole my 7" raw BGC glider out of my car when I was fishing one of my local waters. Then Tueaday I was going fishing with someone and the bungee strap holding my rods in the boat broke and all 7 of my rods went over I-80. One was lost and the others all got rashed up pretty bad. My tatula swimbait rod is toast - rashed up and 5 guides are gone. Honestly, it's devastating to me as I can't replace them but luckily the few I turned seem to function OK but look terrible. We were already halfway to our destination and I didn't want to disappoint the guy so I went along with the trip even though I just didn't feel up to fishing. It was the first time our schedules aligned and were able to go so in my haze I couldn't tell him to turn around. I only used 2 of the rods that day and still have not really inspected them. I picked up my chatterbait rod and changed the leader and used that for the first hour and caught some Pickerel. Then i grabbed my new swimbait setup - my Ryoga and a Leviathan rod - changed the leader and tried not to look at the reel. It felt ok and fished it for a while but didnt get any takers and only had one look at it. At the end of the day I had a big one come.up and swipe at my lure. Then she hit it and I got nothing. I threw back out and gave it a few twitches and BAM, but immediatwly after setting the hook I noticed a weird sound and it felt weird. After all was said and done the eye on top of my new Leviathan rod was gone SO I was lucky to even land the fish. It was obviously broken from taking the spill on the interstate - they are sending me a new rod tip so it will work again - it will have to look better than my new Ryoga reel. Sigh. What a disaster. I am honestly crushed and I don't think I will ever put rod/reels in the back of a boat with rod socks on. I think that's probably what caused them to go airborne and they all went flying to neverland anyway. I took a few pictures of my gear and haven't looked at it since. When I got home I wrapped my coat around the bunch of them and put them in the shed and that's where they still lie.

Harris chain
We get all the traffic from the surrounding states. And you are right about the amount of boats near you - it's silly.
-
Harris chain
In the Northeast if you don't have another boat or kayak fishing within 100 yards if you it's a rare day. When I was younger in western pa, you wouldn't dare but now in eastern pa you can just pull up next to someone and drop the trolling motor because everything is crowded. How do you not know? And they should have a Marshall or someone to contact.

Using a clear coat on hard baits/lures to avoid paint loss ?
On some of my swimbaits I will lightly brush on 2 part epoxy thinned with denatured alcohol.
