  1. It's funny how all people have different preferences. I change all my t handles to the knobs!
  2. I am hearing they are going to outlaw Crappie brakes, limit your screens to a total of 60" and reduce the transducers to a total of 1 on the trolling motor. I think these are positive changes and are a happy medium for everyone involved. 60" is still a lot of screens though - 5, 12" would be ok.
  3. spinnerbait - ones made by a local guy jerkbait - megabass vision 110 in northern secret lipless - lucky craft lv500 jig - local jigs from Wacky Worm 1/2 oz in green pumpkin with a rage craw in green pumpkin square bill - Luck Craft crankbait - strike king 7xd soft body swimbaits (not trailers) - Bass Mafia Zaldaingerous 7" hard body swimbait - BGC 7" Glide Hard Body Wake Bait - Bullshad Soft tail Frog - Booyah Pad Crasher( I have tried all the expensive ones and this one works best!) Popper - Yellow Magic in alewive
  4. Depends. I use 6, 7 and 8. 8 is good for getting quicker input to the baits. For wakes and slow methodical baits I use a 6. A 7 will handle everything ok.
  5. Never have - I like the way the weathered and worn cork looks and feels
  6. My arm hurts from the twisting...
  7. I use the older model Tatula 100's which ate the frames for the current Tat 150's. For frogs and top water where I will have e bigger line on my reel I want a wider spool with a high gear ratio. On the Zillions, you will almost be spooling the reel and losing your IPT.
  8. For the fun of it I put together a "bling reel" - all silver and gold. I found the gold knibs from a store in Malaysia. I swapped out a gold t-wing and replaced all the screws with gold. I found a ceramic pawl to add and all 12 bearings are ceramic. I polished all the pieces I needed to and replaced the drag washers. I was looking for a gold brake dial but couldn't source one. I thought about changing out the spool but the stock one performs very well so left it alone. Overall this is all completely unnecessary but was fun. 🙂
  9. It just wouldn't work the way I mostly fish swimbaits - very slow, suspended. Sinking about a foot every 5 seconds or more.
  10. The problem with adding any kind of wire leader is you are killing the action and more so the rate of fall for these baits when targeting bass. You are essentially setting up to target the toothy critters. Just get some cheaper big baits like the Bass Pro shops swerve and others and fish them with 20-25# fluoro leaders.
  11. I have cleaned and upgraded a few hundred reels this year. The only parts that can be troublesome are screws that were loctited in place. Once you have a system down the springs and clips aren't a big deal. For all intents and purposes it isn't necessary to take a reel apart 100% to service it. Sometimes it is but that's rare IMO. Remember your time is money - if you don't enjoy doing it or it takes a long time, it may be beneficial to send it to a seasoned pro!
  12. Spawn Cherry or Northern Secret
  13. I have been for some time- usually when I throw them I take 3 or 4 with me and use those and when dry throw them back in the box. If I had a boat, they would probably be strewn all over the floor....
  14. I have known about them for a while and they are surely the best hook bonnets on the market. I was able to get enough to do all my big swimbaits off Amazon for right around 30 bucks. After getting them all on - one of the best decisions I have made in a while!
  15. Since when? I run 20 on a few and 10 on my bfs. As long as you get it tightly wound on the spool, it's not an issue
  16. TTEL761MLFS The Tatula Elite 7'6" ML comes in at $190. It's designed for Hair Jigs but works great for Ned Rigs.
  17. Sometimes you know the most fish are going to be caught fishing a wacky worm but I would rather go throw large swimbaits for 8 hours trying to catch 1 huge one...
  18. Just like New Hampshire's absolutism "Live Free or Die" ,mine on the water seems to be the mantra "Hero or Zero".
  19. Those fish are like aliens👽 to me - lol Nah, I am a flat knob lover. I only use a thumb and finger on the knobs which doesn't work so well for round ones. I have a silver and gold zillion coming up...I have about half the parts, the rest are coming from Malaysia
  20. I just hate those knobs. I would prefer the slp works blue knobs. 😀
  21. I use the feider's for full size yellow magics all the time. They work great
  22. The medium size. I usually just use the owner hooks that come with twistlocks in a size 4/0.
