Like you I typically throw them more during prespawn but 2 years ago the wife and I were camping on Philpott lake in VA and caught my biggest fish of the year in August throwing a suspending Jerkbait. This time of year I'm focused on top water and soft plastics but really should be more open minded with bait selection. If they hit a soft swimbait in warmer water, why not a Jerkbait.

Scent can instill confidence, that in itself makes it worth it for soft plastics. Oh, and I do well with Keitechs with the strong squid scent. Infact, I remember as a child, old men spitting tobacco juice on their night crawlers and swear they caught more fish, guessing the molasses.

I believe #4 would work be ideal for Roboworms and #3 for a little more snug. Here's a comparison for Ya'. This is a #3 on a Jackall flick shake worm with a Roboworm below.

Same here. If they've been consistent producers in the past, they get thrown. I may opt for a little less flash at times but don't fiddle much with my spinners.

Never heard of that presentation. I know from experience that wind + weightless can increase the risk of deep hook, comphromises sensitivity. Hope you get it resolved.

They all look shiny and feel smooth in the store. In store experience is vastly different than on the water. Something I look for in a new rod and reel is weight savings and comfort, makes a tremendous difference when you fish a lot. We all define " expensive " differently. Recently spent $329 on Lew's custom Pro spinning reel and paired it with a Cashion rod. The wife was standing beside me when it was rung up. She was blown away that I spent that much on a combo. When we got home I invited her to get on Bass Resources.......she now calls me frugal, thankyou ? It's your money, spend it the way you want to.

If you have the disposable income and you find gradification in high end equipment then I applaud you. Whenever I upgrade reels or rods, I actually do feel a difference.

The wife and I have visited several tropical resorts in Mexico, both sides and they were some of the finest in the world. Have to admit, I don't watch the news or read a newspaper but the wife does and she indicates an significant increase in gun violence down there and even places we've stayed in and around Cancun. I certainly wish the best for anyone traveling to Mexico in the pursuit of DD bass but think I'll stay in the states for a while.
