  1. Completely understand. Just last week in a lake in WV, I had to abort because they just stocked trout. This was a Tuesday and couldn't get to the boat ramp. That said, this particular lake has always been a good bass fishery, you just have to wait a few weeks and let the trout fisherman get it out of their system. Lol
  2. Wow is right. Where was the lanyard ?
  3. I've never thrown a Spinnerbait without a trailer, adds some profile and bouyancy........ Spinnerbaits are perhaps my all-time favorite. Infact, the only skirted bait that I throw without a trailer is a buzzbait.
  4. There is no public access to this lake.
  5. Welcome to BR ?
  6. This really Hits home. Lol We live 1/2 mile off a state maintained road and I let the grass grow so long that I have to remove praying mantis before I mow....... honestly.
  7. Yes, it's usually selfish irresponsible people creating dangerous scenarios where others get hurt or loss of life......sad none the less.
  8. I direct tie Spinnerbaits because of a much bigger issue with those clips and snaps and that is...... during the fight. On a big fish, those snaps will slide up to the blades and deform the Spinnerbait with excessive stretch. AND worse yet is shearing the blades off and wave bye bye to fish. Hense the reason I direct tie all Spinnerbaits. Another point is, a Spinnerbait is a must in my arsenal and has a rod and reel dedicated to it so it never comes off.
  9. Agree, leave your braid on and go to a flouro leader for the more finesse stuff you mentioned, especially if the water your fishing is gin clear. Learn to tie a good leader knot like an Alberto.
  10. My old pal and fishing partner for many years is still using Lightning rods and Cherrywood. He's retired and very comfortable financially. He gives me a hard time for spending $200 for a combo. I laugh and say " that ain't nothing, you should join Bass Resources ". Lol The one area I do see where he stuggles is trying to cast light baits on very inexpensive baitcasters. So, stubbornness is another factor.
  11. My SLX and Lew's custom is high end isn't it ?

Well ended up grabbing 2 to try, we shall see. Thanks for the insight.

I'm not quite understanding the concept behind swim Jigs but certainly open minded. Was at the tackle shop today and noticed that sleeker profile Jigs are gaining shelf space in the jig isle. Have always had good success in the past with common football head Jigs and simply worked them....... like a jig, like a creature bait, dragging and hopping them through cover. How would you compare your success rate with a sleeker profile swim jig and actually swimming them vs the ole football head Jigs. Seems to me like a chatterbait without the blade. Educate me on these swim Jigs.
  17. I do believe it's their year especially with KC loosing the Cheetah ?
  18. I tend to spend a little more for the rod ( $100 - 150 ) and around$100 for a reel. I've always drawn a line somewhere.
  19. Knock on wood but luckily have not ever kicked a reel into the water or had a fish take off with one. Did however upset a Coleman Crawdad years ago and lost everything.
  20. Because of high demand.
  21. I don't have any reels that come off the bench. This is the starting lineup. Lol Couple of Shimano, an Abu, couple of Kastking and Lew's. Do all my Ned's and DS on a Lew's spinning ( not pictured ).
  22. If I was guaranteed KVD success, I'd still decline as I detest being in the spotlight.
  23. Lol, wife already giving me a hard time, heat pump screaming.
  24. Middle of March fooled me, shut the wood furnace down, connected all the garden hoses, started the mower, hedge trimmers on standby. Lol Um......13* tonight. My biggest concern is water temps ?
