I use cheap backing, any line I don't use anymore and spool on braid while pinching with a leather work glove.

Fishing pressure has increased enormously, especially recently. Target 1 fish and hope for 2. ?

Right now with our water temps under 50* I've caught every fish on Spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. it also depends on the water your fishing and bottom composite. Pressured water, Gin clear with hard bottom, Neds and drop-shot produce well here but still prefer power fishing overall.

I started this thread over 2 years ago and since then, only use 1 worm for Neko. Zman finesse wormZ.......stands straight up like I want.

If you're into manicured yards, stay away from the mountains.

OP here. Fished for 4 hrs today in that east wind and only caught 2 Bass, water temp 49*. Caught 1 fish on a Spinnerbait and the other on a jerkbait but still had fun.

That's a big'n. I've only caught 1 musky " mistakenly " and it was in WV on a jerkbait.

They cast well on either but much prefer spinning because they skip so well.

Ok it's something to this east wind. I'll just sit home tomorrow and watch Whoopi Goldberg instead of a skunk..... yeah. ?

So, talking with my fishing buddy this evening as we get ready to launch in the morning and he's not real confident tomorrow because of a consistent east wind. Now I've been fishing for over 50 years and never heard this before, not once. He's an older fellow, older than I and claims the fish are preparing for a front and get lockjaw and that cows lie down. Lol Can someone shed some light on this ? I'm still fishing regardless.

I've become an outstanding Crappie fisherman while Bass fishing. That's all I caught today. Lol

Every toothy critter that I've unintentionally caught has been on a jerkbait.......pickeral, pike and tiger muskie. Beautiful pretators non the least.

We live so far back, gotta go towards town to deer hunt. Lol

Sunlight is critical, grass can't grow without it......my problem.

Under your budget, nice. I use a 6'8 Lew's custom med action moderate.
