  1. So many great fishing kayaks to choose from, almost mind boggling. BUT, if you're planning on pulling an RV you'll have to roof rack any boat over 11 ft...... been there. Just throwing out another option Incase the wife or GF wants to be on the water with you like my wife suddenly did. Lol Had to sell my fishing kayak for a Bass Raider to accommodate the wife. It slides in the back of truck while not interfering with trailer and a dream to fish from while standing. Of course I'm old and can't sit long.

My wife says that I fall asleep in under a minute after my feet leave the floor. Lol I'm very consistent, bed by 10 and up at 6.
  3. Will continue with what has always worked well in the past. Only thing I really changed for this year is the Ned rig. Gonna try 1/16 offset wide gap hooks and texpose the Ned for a more weedless presentation. Don't care for the heads with weed guards.
  4. Palomar knot is all I have ever used with braid and flouro, no problems. Are you leaving a 1/4 inch tab when you snip it ?
  5. I can offer this. Wife's sister " retired " lived on a lake in Alabama. My 1st cousin " retired " lives on lake Anna. My neighbor has a vacation home on Smith mountain lake. I've never heard a single complaint from any of them. I see way more pros then cons and i myself would be living on a lake if wife wasn't married to her business.
  6. The wife and I go through Airbnb a couple times a year and rent someone else's house on a lake......non stop fishing.
  7. Been catching them on suspending jerkbaits but it's been slow going due to stubborn water temps and repeated cold fronts. Flukes, assassins, Keitech jerked around hydrilla have all produced in the past as well.
  8. After all these years, I'm still using Power pro.
  9. That had to be a wild ride. I carry side cutters and have only used them to preserve the life of fish so far.
  10. I have it but don't need it. I simply turn it on to get water temps, time of day and depth mainly. Big lakes, I'll use my Garmin a little more but still can certainly live without it.......I already know Bass like structure and plenty I can see. Lol
  11. I always look at the weather forecast and plan around that. Windy days such as today are take care of obligations day. The weather says I'm fishing Monday and Tuesday, goes south from there.
  12. What biting off more than they can chew ? Lol
  13. They must not. Just the other morning I sat on the water 1 hr before they started biting.
  14. Only compaint I have is the " fall back " right in the middle of deer season every year. Now I have to get up an hour earlier to make stand before daylight. I say just leave it be.
  15. A fish that gets off feet from the boat counts as landed. Lol
  16. Baitmate for many years, smells like liquorice.
  17. I don't consider It a hook set with 1/16 Ned's, just pick up rod tip and reel. That little hook should sink and ideally not tear.
  18. Do you actually drink a whole gallon on a trip ?
  19. The reason I ask is, a buddy of mine are constantly jumping back and forth from his boat to mine and items are being left behind in the process. We're working on it though. Lol Recently forgot my polarized sunglasses and quickly realized how reliant I am with them, I was miserable. Another item, fish grippers !!!! I was throwing jerkbaits and had to net even the little Bass in fear of burying a hook. What are some other items that if forgotten could sour the day ?
  20. I'm betting 99% had Kentucky except the players for Saint Peters.
  21. Hunting and fishing has been my life....... well girls interrupted it for awhile.

Exactly why the wife carries a hammerless revolver....... it's point and protect.
  23. Bought the wife a lifetime kayak for $110 at DSG so maybe legit, maybe.

My vote would be Ruger LCR 38 for a woman in a hurry to protect herself......no thinking involved. My wife simply cannot chamber a round in any of my semi's.
  25. Yes, very accurate assumption. Boats, RV's and pickup truck prices will come back to earth.
