  1. I've never done well in body's of water that fluctuate like that. Last year in a local lake that was under construction for boat ramp repairs, was able to slide my kayak in as the water level was dropping........Nadda, nothing, zilch. Then yet another lake in WV. When I arrived the water level was up 4ft from a severe storm and same result. Maybe fish get use to the constant fluctuations in certain impoundments but around here, it effects the bite.
  2. As mentioned, carry a pair of quality cutters. I can have a fish back in the water fairly quickly but sometimes have to go behind the gill....snip.
  3. Makes absolute complete sense to me and it's HIGHLY likely the culprit in this case.
  4. If I were to ever fly to the sun, it would most definitely be at night.
  5. That one got me. I could easily see Bill Dance doing this as well.

Wow, turned out fantastic. Now....where are you going to hang that beauty ?
  7. 3lbs is a good fish in any of the lakes I fish and deserves a congrats.
  8. Yep, just completed a drop-shot knot and go to rig worm and realize hook is upside down........there goes 3ft of leader.
  9. Well Ford knows something about big displacement engines......always have.
  10. The 7.3 impresses every time I tow but the the 6.2 has been proven over time. Enjoy your truck ?
  11. I'm simplistic so can relate. I often carry 1 small tackle box and 2 rod/reel combo's and never wish for more. My elderly close friend who taught me how to fish has a different bait for every stump. We're both happy and still enjoy fishing.
  12. 25 years is quite the feat, congratulations. Personal favorites in VA : Briery creek reservoir Lake Frederick Lake Robertson Philpot lake Claytor lake Holliday lake Top pick for US #1 Sam Rayburn
  13. Awesome truck Ajay and Wow....serious HP. I'm not brand biased and have owned several Chevy, Dodge and Ford, enjoyed each one. This is my latest truck, Fords new 7.3 gas engine with 10 spd transmission. Still getting acclimated to all the new tech. 2021 F250 Superduty.
  14. Yep, I've done it. Actually had to get towed back to the ramp after the wind killed troll motor. AND....I've got more stories of stupidity. Lol
  15. If I can't reach the bait with an oar, it remains.
  16. Yes fish the lake quite a bit and impossible to get a accurate weather forecast because it sits on a high plateau, hence the name " mount STORM " but beautiful area nonetheless. Just down the road is another beautiful deep clear lake with Smallmouth.....Randolph Jennings. Davis WV is a place you won't want to leave, great little restaurants and a bunch of hillbillies, about like Mayberry. Again, the weather is ridiculously unpredictable.
  17. Black/blue seems to be very productive jig color but not my favorite. Motor oil or green pumpkin with red flake has been my most productive but gin clear waters here.
  18. Haven't used a public bathroom in over a year so can't recall the annoyances.
  19. Not gonna lie, I'm a fare weather fisherman and will abort a planned trip for a better day. At 60, I'd rather put on sunscreen than a coat.
  20. Yeah, I could eat that.
  21. I use fish grips for bass when a treble hook exists. We have several local campgrounds that have small ponds stocked with bowfin but they charge a weight fee. Fish in general have always been a preferred food growing up and at present and find bowfin tasty......beats killing them.
  22. Always a trailer on both. Always have used curly tails on spinnerbaits and tail must face up.
  23. Have to agree. Two species that are native to a specific body of water would not likely crossbreed but an introductory breed would increase the likelihood of this phenomenon.
  24. Surprised they'd breed in open water but beautiful fish nonetheless. I've kept many breeds of south and central American cichlids in closed environments and mixed breeds were common place but frowned upon by breeders. BUT, have to agree, find me a lake where these 2 beautiful fish make love and I'm all in.
  25. Never tried them. Use to throw some SK and migrated to Terminator and now throw mostly KVD. I've tried cheaper imitation baits in the past and always ended up disappointed.
