I like to call my issue tunnel vision. When I get on a bait that does surprisingly well, that's all I throw and everything else gets shelved. Other times I'll go through all my inventory and realize that there are several baits I've not thrown in a couple of years. Because of my migration towards finesse tackle, most old school power fishing baits get used sparingly if at all. Exception - spinnerbait.

Guess it's regional, I start catching pre-spawn bass when water temps reach 52* but have to admit, hate dark stained water. Too use to fishing clear water here. Throw a big spinnerbait 😄

I don't feel like there's that much maintenance to a boat trailer, at least nothing significant. Keep them clean, tires inflated, bearings greased, dab a little grease on the ball. My tires are directional so Jack trailer and take tires to tire shop every year for rotation. Only thing I'm OCD about before every trip is proper tire PSI. Bunks are either good or need replacement but go years before needing attention. I have no experience with salt water but logic tells me increased maintenance is inevitable.

I've never looked forward to spring like I am this year, ever. Last year went through 6 cords of firewood, this year already at 8 cords with at least a month to go.

99.9 % boat. Only time I fish from shore is after I launch the boat, tie it off and wait for the wife and that's only a cast or 2.

Something else to consider: Some rods usually older or budget friendly are not equipped to handle braid. The problem lies within the guides. Over time a grove develops especially on the tip and the cuts under stress. I'll admit it only happened to me when fighting a fish. Inspect your top quide for this grove.

A comment you don't hear that often but had me thinking. My most memorable day on the water several years ago in April, Air temperature stayed consistently in the mid 50's throughout the night and throughout the next day.....dead calm as well.

@Bluebasser86 Proof that sometimes the fish behave opposite of what we may think. I thought sunny banks were the ticket in cold water conditions, maybe not.

Maybe we're just fortunate regarding mice. Bird feeder is located 15 yards from the house and 20 yards from our RV and not a mouse stirring. I see quite a few Shrews on the property though.

Gosh, I feed a half a gallon of seed per day 365. We have Titmouse, Chickadee, Finch, Bluejay, Cardinal, Nuthatch, Dove, Sparrow, Cowbird, indigo bunting, multiple woodpecker and loads of chipmunk and Squirrel. AND a Cooper Hawk that sits on top of the feeder at least once per week.

I fish gin clear water so Flickshake, Drop-shot, Ned are always tied on and are responsible for the majority of yearly catches.

I don't believe the actual texture of a soft plastic is as important as what it's trying to imitate. Worm on the other hand is simply a worm and probably catches more fish than any other bait year in and year out. It's what you do with it and the color that may intice more strikes. Then you have technique - how you want to present the bait. Nothing has created more techniques than a soft plastic and is responsible for what the bait does under water.

Spinnerbait is the one bait that I want running perfectly straight. I'm actually a little obsessed about it.

Thought I'd share this here. I'm an avid football fan and it's the only TV I watch during the year other than some old westerns on Amazon prime. Every year as soon as the SB is over the wife calls and cancels our paid TV services which is $187 per month. Come Sep 9 we'll have it reinstalled. 😁

Whoa just reading this. Certainly something you can no way emotionally prepare for. Praying for healing for everyone that was effected...... such a beautiful woman.

Good point and the way it works around here. We as boaters are responsible for everyone aboard and sometimes have to be the educator.

@A-Jay Makes sense and perhaps I'm being a little wasteful on the cartridges as I've been replacing everything pictured every 3 years.

Something to consider with inflatables. The CO2 cylinders actually have an expiration date and should routinely be replaced. I've tested mine for function, they work well.

Onyx self inflate is what I use.

I see that Seattle is favored to win the SB next year in the lastest odds.....Duh ! So was Philadelphia last year after mauling the Chiefs.
