  1. The "I" series likely created a lot of issues for Shimano though. They were notorious for brake whine and while most of us on this forum can figure out how to fix it, I imagine for your average consumer that might have resulted in a return/exchange. That said, they did an incredible job marketing the K. Even on this forum everyone was saying it was the greatest Curado ever ... I still prefer the I
  2. Im guessing this is a K. Dont do it
  3. Maybe I missed it, but what's your opinion, since you've handled it?
  4. Shimano Spheros SW and Star Stellar Lite or Tsunami airwave rod works well at just a bit over $200. You can sub the Spheros with Daiwa BG to get closer to your price point ... although I wouldn't due to weight.
  5. Fix it and fish it. If you don't like it, sell it but let the buyer know its repaired. Odds are you'll still find takers.
  6. I think that would work if the brake drum or whatever the blocks ride on was not tapered. The fact that it's tapered gives you extremely crappy adjustability with all 4 blocks engaged. Better options is just keep it at 2. Never seen the need to use more.
  7. Yo Zuri Hybrid 4lb test. Dirt cheap and never failed me.
  8. Whoa ... I used to recommend Solar Bat but looking at their website, prices have increased threefold!
  9. I keep a piece of a broken rod in my truck so i can easily close the vents on the passenger side ... just a thought.
  10. TSI till I die ... or cant find it anymore. TSI 301 is as good as it gets but its more expensive and harder to find. TSI 321 is next best IMO.
  11. I tried pliers but thinner braid would cut into the handles (rapala, Shimano), then I also tried fish grip Jr but the textured surface would make the line break at the gripper, not the lure.
  12. I was looking for reviews but after reading this, I realized it was a waste of time i have 3 and they have far outperformed shimano slx mgl and shimano curado reels in smoothness drag casting and overall preformance
  13. Yeah, these are the ones giving him issues. Which honestly surprises me since my hookup percentage is great with these. EWG on the other hand ...
  14. Might be a good time to load up on some and just sit on them. This could be like the Seiko SKX007 watches all over again!
  15. On the old white cage roller style, I used to take it completely apart and clean and re oil. On the modern ones which have a colored rubber around the rollers I don't even oil or deep clean unless I'm having issues. I have some that are going on 5 years and working well without ever being touched.
  16. Have both and even a Fuego with the 5 speed Tat gears, they all feel the same to me.
  17. What's the difference? The Fuego shares like 95% of parts with the Tat and I doubt either are tuned to any degree beyond slapping some shims on them here and there. Gear sets and brake system are identical.
  18. I'm no rocket surgeon but doesnt 1 turn with a short handle = 1 turn with a long handle? Handle turns once, spool turns 6.2 or 7.4 or 8.5 or however many times. A turn of a longer handle is still only 1 turn.
  19. I had this question a while back and actually tested it. For me, the line seated at the hook was stronger every single time I tested. I snug them up separately, tighten them together. Youll know if you tightened it wrong bc it will get curly.
  20. tbh the problem is just the name bfs ... if someone marketed a new baitcaster as being able to cast down to 1/16oz people would have no problem with it.
  21. I don't know about for fishing specifically since most braces are going to wrap around the thumb/palm area. I can vouch for this brace. I would honestly just suck it up during fishing and wear the brace the rest of the time and to sleep.
