  1. When I first started I too wanted to have rods and reels to effectively fish as many baits as possible. If I were to do it all over again, I would focus on what I like to throw and upgrade those rods and reels vs buying more stuff for a specific technique that I wont use often (frogs for me).
  2. I do a lot of sweeping with my retrieves and when bringing in fish ... Im probably missing out on that sweet sweet spine action
  3. Maybe hes the fishing version of ratatouille ... I'd put him under my cap to check
  4. This thread is almost as pointless as the Temu banner ad I get at the top of this page ...
  5. Still confused. So the rapala gold and datsun are good and everything else is cheap??
  6. So in the picture, what's fat and what isn't? The Hyper ion looks fattest for its rating to me. Also, y'all don't use Kg ratings?
  7. Where does it point when you hold it naturally? I fish drop shot with the rod tip pointed towards the water and I sweep sideways, I don't hold the rod horizontal, so my ideal balance is probably tip heavy if measured the way you're measuring.
  8. I use the palomar and trilene exclusively for bass. For ultralight, I've gone to the Orvis knot. After I read this article, I questioned the hype, but the Orvis knot does indeed perform better for me with 4lb test and under. https://news.orvis.com/fly-fishing/pro-tips-the-only-two-terminal-knots-you-really-need

  10. Depending on the shipper, you should have the option of refusing delivery.
  11. Theyve got enough name recognition at this point that they can start selling doyos with their name on them and make a fortune. I can definitely see that happening ...
  12. Honestly the most fun ive had fishing was probably with the crappiest gear ive owned ...

  14. just drop it off at things remembered or whatever its called
  15. 9 out of 10 police officers recommend them.
  16. I agree. I don't believe I've ever felt fatigue on the cranking hand as much as on the palming hand/wrist. Being that the crankbait will have the same amount of resistance if it is traveling at the same rate of speed, I don't see much of a difference in fatigue with different ratio.
  17. Rizzuto finish, no half hitches. Then take lighter to both mono end and braid end.
  18. I read this somewhere or other when I first started fishing and tried it. The book recommended toothpaste so that's what I used. I can confirm the reel was much smoother, although I'm not sure the premature wear is worth it.
  19. I don't think indexing applies to baitcasting like it does to spinning ... I may be wrong though
  20. The feeling youre describing is what my reels felt like when the pinion bearing needed grease. I switched from oiling that bearing to packing it with grease and its been better. I also moved on from Yamalube because despite people saying its very thick, I didn't find that to be the case. I now use Cals tan on gears and on drag.
  21. Determine what youre after and then go from there. Youre currently looking at a 2500 Vanford but you can go up to 12000 sized spinners. Similarly, you can go up to 400+ sized casting reels. Start with what youll be throwing/targeting. When in doubt, use what the locals recommend.
