What pond baits to throw first
Those types of baits were very productive for me a couple of years ago. I dont use Lucky Crafts but the H2O Xpress Model Ss that i picked up on clearance for like $1.00

What do you do with the tag end after retying?
I just toss them ... i figure with how much of other people's line i take out of the lake, 10-16" dropped for 100ft taken out is a fair trade.

Budget friendly, ultra light rod question
Its going to come down to what you're throwing. For panfish lures like trout magnets and donkey tails, the Okuma celilo ultralight is a great rod. If you're throwing hard baits like the Rebel Teenies, I'd use the light power you have now.

Knots in general
like @Darth-Baiter, I ain't tying it outside of home. If for no other reason than to me the braid tag end of an FG should be singed and I don't carry a lighter with me. I'm also pretty picky about my FGs ... 20 wraps, rizzuto finish, no overhand knots. I don't think there's much debate that its relatively hard to tie on or off the water for anyone with only 2 hands and average sized fingers.

Would you respool?
what lb test? it would make a difference to me. 12/15 I might chance it 8 and under ... no way

I have a rod/reel question…

Noisy daiwa reel
You'll have to remove the handle and crack open the reel. Get a tub of Cals Tan Drag grease and you can use that on both the gears and drag. Find a video of someone doing a teardown or clean and lube and follow that. Make sure to keep track of all parts and take pictures as needed. Or send it over to @Delaware Valley Tackle

Knots in general
The FG is the king of line to line and I'm pretty sure many here agree ... it doesn't get put down. People use easier alternatives but I doubt anyone questions it as a good knot.

FG knot, the "short short version"
*edit ... this guy tied an albright and passed it off as an FG
-
FG knot, the "short short version"
Yup this method requires access to both ends of the line being wrapped around, meaning the leader has to be wrapped around the mainline and not the other way around.

Shimano Miravel
Shimano Spheros SW is the best domestically available reel in the $120ish range. It's the cheapest of Shimano's worm gear spinning reels which helps a lot with line lay. Miravel offers light weight but still uses old school oscillation

Line to Leader knot for small line
FG will work with those sizes if you keep things tight.

To loosen drags or not?
Always loosen. If it's a rod I'm fishing often, more so because the last thing I want is to accidentally reel while rigged and snap the tip top.

How to choose what bait to throw?
the night before, whatever lure the fish is biting in my imagination before I go to bed is what gets tied on. From there its just trial and error. Then I'll find something that worked once and stick to it for the next 20 outings where I will get skunked on 18 of them.

Do they make crank baits the same size as the KVD 1.5 but heavier than 3/8?
I agree and I'd also fish that on a MM rod instead

Which reels of today will be valued in the future?
If we're talking hold value vs increase, my money is on the workhorse reels. Don't own one, but I suspect the SLX XT will hold its value very well.

Which reels of today will be valued in the future?
Things don't always go forward. I think there's more than a few of us here that would take a Curado E over a K at the same price point.

Which reels of today will be valued in the future?
Anything limited or made in collaboration with someone else ... Megabasses, Dream Tackles, etc.

Spinning reel drag (and maybe casting reels too)
Although I've never personally had a bad experience using regular grease instead of drag grease, I would rather fish the drag dry than with regular grease. I've heard it can cause issues with drag smoothness and is a pain to clean up completely.
