Torque-Reeling with Spinning Gear
If youre referring to a D.A.M quick spinning reels, I've never heard of such a thing. They get used heavily in the salt and lots of people are fans of them to this day.

FG Knot Lubrication
Are you leaving a long enough tag end of flouro? The braid will slide some. For security i try to leave about 4-5" of flouro sticking out past the knot.

Beginner Crankbait Questions
I second this suggestion. For a budget crankbait rod the med/mod berkley lightning rod is great. For a budget option with more backbone, the Lews Carbon Fire MH/Mod is good.

The latest sale thread
The best sales are in store and not even published. Best bet is to keep an eye on what you like and scan the item at the price checker from time to time. Ive gotten several rods for over 50% off. They do have online sales from time to time and sometimes they are quite good ... well they used to be. Ever since the covid hit their fishing clearance items don't appear to be getting updated regularly.

Pixy 60 bearing swap?
301 contains a strong solvent and you dip the entire bearing. It dries completely leaving only a minimal amount of oil. 301 comes in metal cans 321 comes in elmers glue bottles.

Pixy 60 bearing swap?
Im surprised at the love for TSI321 over 301. I too am a 321 user but for high performance bearings, a 301 dip might be the ticket

FG Knot Lubrication
I use that method to hold the line but do 20 wraps and finish with rizzuto Although I am intrigued by this method ... the spacing this guy gets makes me wonder if it would hold better

FG Knot Lubrication
At what point is everyone lubricating this knot? Today I tied a couple of leaders and forgot to lubricate one of them before tightening down. I quickly realized it really bit into the copolymer and tightened nicely. It got me to thinking about lubrication with this knot and what time, if at all, is best. I know that the purpose of lubrication is to help prevent line burn but with a knot like the FG where would the failure point be if tied dry? I tested the one I tied completely dry and found no difference in perceived break strength (not actually measured) and it joined 20lb braid to 40lb YZH (shock leader).

Is Fluorocote basically coated monofilament line?
Man, Kast King becoming the fast food of fishing. Giving the people what they want for cheap. Maybe someday i'll try it ...

Carolina rig vs Football Jig line
What same rod are they recommending? I prefer a heavier MH for jigs and a true H for Carolina rigs.

Short casts
Cast a weight out in the back/front yard and get a measure of that

Short casts
How far are you casting? Have you actually measured it out?

Short casts
You do not want to use braid on spincast combos as the rods are typically not rated for braid. Ive done it before and it will wear grooves into the guides which are typically lower grade aluminum oxide. From the video that you had posted, your technique didn't appear to be the issue. You had mentioned no matter how heavy the lure is, you can't get more distance right?

Shimano SLX Baitcaster Maintenance
Hmm. It wouldn't be a bad idea to oil the bearings but its unlikely thats the source of the issue since you mentioned no issues before. Some people say that gear sets wear into each other and when you align them differently you lose smoothness until it wears in ... not sure if there's any truth to that. Are you testing smoothness/sound on the water or just the reel? I've found that sometimes the feeling of the reel is magnified when its off the rod and not being fished.

Shimano SLX Baitcaster Maintenance
Smoothness is usually the result of bearings, not gears. How did you service those?

How to cover water but with finesse?
Don't look for fish, look for structure and cover. Then fish that using every lure in the tacklebox. Best way to do this IMO is dragging a heavy carolina rig to find hard bottom and other types of cover/structure.

Second time fishing
The spool may be underfilled or overfilled. I would pop the top and see if either of those is the case. Even if all looks fine, I would take the line out and wind it onto an empty spool or water bottle and respool the reel.

Crank baits from the bank
I throw lots of cranks from shore down to about 18' (its a quarry). That said, I've lost tons in the process of finding the ones that work best for me. My best advice is to determine the depth you'll be fishing most at at and then buy a couple of different lures in that depth range. There are also some crankbaits that just excel at not getting hung up like the luhr jensen hot lips for example.
