I found this lil guy beside a stream this morning. What is he?

This morning I slipped up to a hole of water in a creek and witnessed what to me was a first. I had scared a bunch a creek chubs. There was a piece of treebark in the stream and a creek chub about 5” long swam under it and was immediately attacked by a big crawdad he was perhaps 5” in length as well. He held the minnow for close to 2 minutes and I believe began feeding on the minnow until it made one last wiggle and got away. I thought it was neat and that I’d share the story! Crawdads can be real bad tails ?

I dug out my “bugs” to try on a fly rod for bass & bluegills. That lil foam lure that looks like a ladybug/spider is what I caught my best fly rod bass on. It was a 16” Smallmouth in a creek but I can remember it’s fight a dozen years later. A whippy fly rod and the best I could do was just to wait til it tired. I had several of that lil simple foam bug but am down to one. There is also frog and mouse looking lures I’ve yet to use. I’m no fly fishermen but I’m gonna try to catch a few more bass in the coming days on these. If you have any bass bugs post us a pic or share a tip.

My 15 year old nephew and I used that very color and worm in the last week. Caught bass and crappie on it! I have been a fan of Creme lures since I first started fishing! I also used their top water hardbait this week and it accounted for bass and bluegill!! Cremes not dead!!!

Why don’t you guys dig out your bass flies and post us a pic... I’ll dig mine out and post tonight as well. Show us which fly or popper has worked best for you.

I’ve got several cheap setups all with automatic reels on them and have had fun catching red eyes, gills and bass on them many years ago. My biggest was a 16” smallmouth that fought like it was a shark! I might have to renew the interest and take it out this week.

Yea that guy on YouTube goes by the name superstrike has a lot of great vids using Heddon lures and vintage rods n reels. He catches lots of bass on them.

A couple of those Heddon Budweiser cans lures have been on my want list a long time. I’ve watched that guy on YouTube catch with em for years now

Lot of happy times holding a Zebco reel. I used one last year but it had issues. I need to get a better one and relive those good times.

I know something that can remove a (the) skunk even better than @TnRiver46 can... a smaller lure presentation lol it took a 2 3/4” walking bait to remove the skunk for me yesterday evening

The 3-4” cats we put 25 of these last spring and this is the first one we’ve saw since last Fall. He couldn’t resist a Berkeley Powerbait grub. Growing nicely!

In addition to your popper purchasing I suggest you look on the Creme lures website at a less than 3” walking lure they sale. I know Blue knows the lure I speak of and in the same situation that you would use that popper, I throw instead this small great walking lure with better results for me.
