Do you want moderate or fast action for bladed jigs and spinnerbaits?
I use a 13 Fishing Fate Med/mod. In my old age I have started to go to the lightest gear I can get and still get the job done. I used to be at least a MH/F or stiffer for everything but through the years I've learned I enjoy the fight alot more when I have to actually play the fish and can't just horse him to the boat.

launching a heavy kayak - need some suggestions
I trailer my Titan 13.5. It's just too big to fit in my little Tacoma bed so I modified a jet ski trailer to haul launch and recover my plastic bathtub.

Family Sues Major League Fishing Over Fatal Smith Lake Tournament Crash
I mean watching the video it's really hard to see how they could say fog was a factor which in my opinion would let MLF off the hook altogether. Man that was rough to watch though. My guess is he was watching his graphs and/or not able to completely see over his graphs, both of which I have been telling folks I know is a big problem in tournament boater safety. We are in uncharted territory all the way around with boat electronics. This is just another example of just because you can doesn't mean you should. I have one 7 inch screen on my main console. I have no problem navigating or seeing what I need to on my graph. These giant graphs screens on the main console need to go away. Say what you will but this is ridiculous.

Upgrade to the old girl.
Still need to install it. Been raining nonstop and the honeydo list is too long for me to get time to mount it at the moment. I've heard nothing but good things from my friends though.

Upgrade to the old girl.
After having an old school Maxxum on my boat for years, for my birthday this year the wife gave me an upgrade. Remote control, spot lock, GPS navigation. I know I'm a few years behind to the party but better late than never right? 😁

Kayakers: What rods do you carry?
My Titan holds 10 rods. I stick to 7 foot or less as a general rule and I make sure I have at the least a rod that will cover enough techniques to cover the complete water column. 1. Topwater(During summer swap for jig rod after the water temps falls below 55 degrees) 2. Crankbait rod 3. Spinnerbait/ bladed jig/ Jerkbait/ Swim Jig 4. Texas/Carolina rig/ Jig rod 5. Wacky rig That's my top 5 because I have enough to carry 5 more the rest of my rods look like this 6. Swimbait/ glide bait 7. Finesse Crankbait/Inline Spinnerbait/spybait 8. Ned rig 9. Jerkbait/Fluke 10. Heavy Flipping/Frog rod YMMV

Carolina Rig with braid?
I use braid to mono on one rod for clean bottoms and flouro to flouro on the other rod for the slop.

Slimy Zoom Flukes
Bizz baits is the same way. I open a bag of any of their baits and Dracula won't come within 10 miles of my boat.

ardent smart cull oops! question arises
I just bit the bullet and took some 50 lb. flouro I had laying around for saltwater fishing and made a new one. I just forcefully tell myself not to think about it.

Pet peeve about fishing from a kayak/canoe
It's me I 100% hijacked your thread OP Sorry about that. I'm old, opinionated, and I tend to ramble, and sometimes I forget to remind myself of that.😁

Pet peeve about fishing from a kayak/canoe
The most compliments I get on my Kayak are either from other kayaks guys or bank folks fishing at the ramp. I guess it's just about the location. I do however think there's one thing we can ALL agree on. Wake Boats suck and the people who drive them are nine times out of ten just as bad. 😂

Pet peeve about fishing from a kayak/canoe
Oh I wasn't targeting you specifically I am just making a general statement. Where I live we have ALOT of power restricted lakes and kayaks are big business. The animosity between bas boat guys and kayak guys is well known in these parts. I have actually seen a few scraps at the ramp between kayakers and boaters and I'm always scratching my head asking "Isn't this supposed to be for fun and relaxation?"

Pet peeve about fishing from a kayak/canoe
I have a kayak with a trolling motor graphs and a 600 pound weight limit. It was a present from my wife when I retired from the military. I always joke and tell folks that my kayak Identifies as a john boat. Heard the whole, "Why don't you just buy a boat" quip quite a few times. I already own a boat. Sometimes I just want to fish from my expensive plastic tub. Alot of people get caught up worrying and getting upset over what someone else uses and to that I say, "If you ain't paying for it then it's probably none of your business." I don't know when we got so judgmental as a society but it seems everybody is worried about everybody else these days instead of keeping their own house in order. I'm just happy I have multiple ways to get on the water since it is literally my therapy for PTSD.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
No bigs today but the fish were active on Hartwell. This was the biggest one of the day hitting a fluke as soon as it hit the water under a rock overhang

ardent smart cull oops! question arises
I accidentally broke off one of the lanyards on my Ardent smart cull tag. Anybody know what size line and what kind they use for the lanyard part. My OCD will not allow me to just throw anything on there. It has to match the others at least in size and type. LOL Thanks.

Do you think it really makes a difference what bladed jig trailer you use?
I almost exclusively use a flapper style trailer for craws and a straight tail minnow trailer for shad imitations. The freeloader, zako or mooch minnow for shad and the z craw and z craw JR. for crawfish

Japan Tariffs
I never said anything about it being harmless at all. I just said they were using it as a scare tactic. I believe you when you say it has caused harm and I have heard similar things too but I believe the intentions of the administration is to scare other countries into towing the line with what they think is fair trade. Yes at the end of the day the little guy usually receives the brunt of the punishment from it but I wasn't debating the ramifications of the tariffs just the intent. Sorry if I confused anyone.

Japan Tariffs
I'd almost be willing to bet those tariffs never get enacted. Seems like the T-word has been used more as just a scare tactic than anything. Not getting political I'm talking about money not thieves and liars. LOL
