I use the Ardent dial up cull tags. I put the weight in, clip it on and away I go.
  2. I've got two. The Crush City Bronco bug and the Crush City Freeloader. I use the bronco bug on a Texas or Carolina rig fished in a pretty traditional manner and the freeloader I use as a trailer on spinnerbaits, swim jigs, and chatter baits and I also put it on the back of a scrounger. Now that summer id here I am gonna try it on a Carolina rig and see what happens. You'd be surprised at how many soft plastics make a good C-rig bait. The short answer? ALL OF THEM!
  3. I'm still a peasant. I run a maxxum on my Stratos. This year however the wife promises me that we will budget for an upgrade to a spotlock motor.
  4. 90% of the time I am fishing a jig I am just dragging it along the bottom. I only really hop it if I feel the jig come up to a tree limb or something that stops it from being drug then I hop the bait over said structure and continue dragging. lol
  5. I just put in a bargain bin order myself. The wife said to make sure I cleared 50 bucks so I could get the free shipping and who am I to argue with such a smart woman? The only bait I have used that you have mentioned is the deps cover scat. It didn't much care for it but it did what it was supposed to I suppose. I just like the yamatanuki better.
  6. My wife jokes that I love dogs more than I do people. Little does she know that she hit the nail on the head. I really do like dogs more than people. Congrats. Glad you gave that precious baby a loving home!
  7. I've had that happen on a dt8 once but I always look in the box when I buy one and haven't had one like that in years.
  8. Even got interviewed by the news! lol https://www.wltx.com/video/news/local/wounded-warriors-fishing-derby-at-lake-murray/101-30d6d33b-dbf1-4488-8101-a7ec0c73eb62
  9. Today we fished the Lake Murray Troop appreciation striper derby. 22 boats in all I believe each boat laden with 2 to 4 Wounded Warrior Project veterans who are treated to a day of striper fishing and prize giveaways and a meal at the end of the day. I was on boat #1 with an Army vet named David and a Marine vet named Brian. We were on the boat of captain James "Fogman" Lindler and his son Robert who was mate for the day We set out first thing in the morning before the sun came up after getting our boat number and breakfast courtesy of Lake Murray Sailing Club. The fishing was from 0430 to 1130 AM. We got to our first spot and we started to throw lines. We were on top of a school about 40 feet down and we literally could not get all of our lines in the water. Stripers were hitting our drop lines before we could get them to the bottom or within a few seconds of getting to our desired depth. The action was hot and fast for about an hour and once we slowed down Captain James counted our fish. 25! That's it we're done! Lets go home! We filled our limit at exactly 7am and was finished. Captain James waited on a friend who was chartering some other folks to come over and put his clients on some fish and we left for the dock. Once at the dock we weighed our biggest fish. I had the biggest fish on our boat at 7.69lbs. Then began the waiting game. We waited on all the boats to come in and weigh for big fish and then lunch would be served at 12pm. As the boats came in I was bumped to second, then third, then eventually fell out of the top five which was prize spots. Then we went in for lunch and door prizes and I won a blackstone fgrill in the raffles! All in all this was a great event and one that I will remember for a lifetime. So many folks put in so much hard work just to treat us to a special day and I couldn't be more grateful!
  10. Yep. I use a crush City freeloader which is pretty close to the same.
  11. we always called baits like the fat ika a hula grub. I guess you say tomato...
  12. I used to be a Ford man... until I bought a Toyota. My wife has a 16 Edge and that car is literally falling apart.
  13. whatever weather app is the default one on the homescreen of a galaxy is the one I use.
  14. I wish I had a small lake to get burnt out on near me. My closest lake is 1 hour away and access to it is hard since I have to drive through chimney rock(Hurricane Helene ground zero) to get to it. It would take me 2 hours going around to get to it so I just go to Hartwell which is still 1.5 hours away. There is a kayak lake only about 25 minutes from me maybe i'll start going back to that lake. I've heard the bass have gotten better there since the shut down the power plant and let the tilapia die off. I'd fish in a bath tub if the wife wouldn't laugh at me. I don't see me getting burnt out anytime soon.
  15. I always tell my wife not to make a big fuss and she usually just takes me to a nice dinner somewhere. Well this year she lied and said she wasn't doing anything for father's day and surprised me with this. She presented me with a Bubba scale lite on our way home from Florida(We were returning from our summer vacation in Orlando yesterday)

don't have much luck on plopper style baits. I don't know why I just can't catch anything on them.
  17. My doctor put me on these pain patches that I stick on my body like a nicorette patch. Unfortunately for me that means no more drinking... ever... I didn't drink much anymore anyways so the trade off is not a big deal and a small price to pay to finally have my pain levels within reason.
  18. My spinnerbait reel is an Abu Garcia 5th Gen Revo X in 7.3:1. Coming in at 120.00 bucks, it's not a bank breaker and the ratio gives you speed if you need it and since I crank my spinnerbaits S-L-O-W anyways it works perfectly. If Abu isnt for you thats fine but I say a reel in the 7 to 1 ratio area is where you want to be. As far as the speed goes it's like a parachute. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
  19. Prayers going out. He had his whole life ahead of him. So sad.
  20. I love fishing jigs. I really suck at it. I need to just put everything else down and let my jig flag fly. 😂
  21. Also don't forget drains which is nothing more than a creek channel that runs from where the water runs into the back of a pocket to the mouth of the pocket. That one threw me for a bit because i thought they were specifically talking about just the spot where the water "drains" into the lake in the back of the pocket then someone explained to me that they were talking about the whole length of the channel running the pocket.
  22. I tend to just move up and fish the new shallow cover. seems like the bass move up with the water. Now I have seen times when it was a post frontal condition where the bass held to the structure where the water line was before it came up but that has been only once or twice.
  23. I like straight tail minnows namely the freeloader and mooch minnow on an underspin. You can say what you want about Jacob Wheeler but that man is a genius when it comes to designing baits.
  24. I use the zako. I have been trying the Bass Pro whatever they call it that is basically a zako as well but I havent had much time with those. I feel like a paddletail is counter productive to the action of the jig. Rarely have I ever seen a paddletail that I could throw on a bladed jig and be in tune with the blades vibration so I just go with a straightail instead. I also use a fluke every once in a while when I want a slimmer profile from the zako as they are a bit fat and on a herring lake sometimes that kills the bite.
  25. Humans don't deserve a dog's love but I'm glad they love us anyways. My kids joke that if a building was on fire and it was them or the dog, I'd grab the dog first.
