  1. I usually don't do a second pass but if I do it's usually the same bait that worked before. Only time I really switch baits is when they stop biting or I'll change colors if they are nipping at the bait. other than that I stick with the one that brought me.
  2. That's how I got to where I am today...
  3. I hate bed fishing mainly because i suck at it. Old eyes make for a hard time spotting fish and when i do find one I don't have the patience to sit there all day trying to make it bite.
  4. I've kayak fished on Santee quite often before I got my boat. I've had gators go under around and even rub up against my plastic bathtub. It's unnerving but I've never seen one be aggressive unless you mess with it or throw a topwater frog or similar at it. They are always just travelling through.
  5. I think alot of the bites people get are more reaction than visual. I know matching the hatch is a thing and clear water calls for a different type of more finessey presentation but I think when I bass sees a jig go by their face on the drop the have a primal urge to strike at it. I also believe that's why most of your strikes come after you pop the jig and it comes to rest. I'm no biologist however, I'm just a redneck with a fishing rod.😂
  6. I never really paid attention to that until you mentioned it, it does get super annoying now that I noticed it. lol I guess they got a mouse in their pocket.
  7. My shaky head/Ned rod is an Abu Pro Series Justin Lucas signature shaky head spinning rod. They are around 200

Danners are worth the price(or they used to be) I have had about a half dozen pairs of Danners over the years and they outlast any other boot I buy. They are expensive however.

Agree to disagree I guess. He's starting early enough I don't think it's gonna be an impossible feat. One thing's for sure he will be one to watch as he progresses through his career.

Say whatever you will but Prezerkurat will surpass KVD by the time he's done. That young man can catch em!

Milliken with a big chunker already!
  12. I'm stalking Glenn he just doesn't know it(oops cat's out of the bag now!)
  13. I carry 20 rods on my boat and every one has a specific technique I use it for. I have one or two rods that do double duty E.G. Texas rigs and Carolina rigs but 90% of them are slated for one technique.
  14. Fishing from the bank is a different animal than a boat. On the boat I keep them in the clamshell but if I were fishing from the bank I would be getting rid any excess bulk I could think of.
  15. I don't pay attention to the turtles and i fish it anyways. Spotted bass aren't very spooky. They are so aggressive around here last trip out the wife was swimming off the back of the boat and I was casting out the front and catching lots of spots set up on a point.
  16. LOL Guilty! I am a Hartwell guy but I sometimes fish Jocassee, Keowee and Russell. Don't go much further south than Russell though as the length of the trips start to surpass my old age travel tolerance.

Sounds like the senko type cremes would be a killer on a carolina rig. I may have to get a few packs to see what it does on a C-rig.
  18. Regarding colors I use Pearl and Albino mostly. I use green pumpkin on a carolina rig when the fish are on beds to mimic a bluegill. Other than that I don't use any other colors although I have them in just about every color. lol One thing I do alot is dip the tail in chartreuse spike it and I keep a hilighter to put a stripe down the sides sometimes enticing finnicky fish to bite. Also one trick I learned a long time is to take the hilighter and put a yellow dot on the throat of the bait. sometimes it increases bites sometimes I don't believe it does anything. It definitely doesn't hurt the bite so your mileage may vary on the throat dot trick.
  19. Of all our dogs we only have one that loves to play with toys. Her favorite is a green and blue spikey ball that lights up when it hits something. She likes to play catch(not fetch) if you throw the ball where she can get to it she will catch it almost every time.
  20. In my state(NC) non powered vessels are required to have a 360 nav light on the back of their vessel from sunset to sunrise.

It's gonna be a big bass battle for sure!
  22. Agreed. My kayak was a retirement present to myself and it was over 2k for just the boat and pedal drive. Once I upgraded to a trolling motor and electronics/accessories it was up there.
  23. I was tying the boat to the dock one day and as I bent over I forgot to zip my keys into the pocket I store them in on my life jacket. Plop! Straight into ten feet of water between the dock and my boat. A couple of fellows who were pulling up saw the shenanigans and said as I was disrobing, "Wait! I've got a magnet! Let me try that first!" Not sure if he was genuinely wanting to help or just did not want to see me in my skivvies I point where they went in at and after about a minute and a half of fidgeting with it I hear a Clink! He pulls up the keys and saves his eyes and my modesty!
