Cabela's (BPS) Fluorocarbon XPS line
I fish flouro on spinning rods alot. I don't recommend going above 10 pound test. I use 8 for my ned rigs and small crankbaits and 6 for spybaits. It is a bit tricky until you get used to it. The most important thing I can say is to make sure you have no slack in the line when you flip the bale over and start reeling. I usually accomplish this by holding the rod vertical after I close the bale and before I reel.

My jerkbaits are saved!
Yes! Good Eye it is a pre Rapala 13 fishing Fate. Most of my rods are Fate and Blacks. They were so much better than their price tag back in the day. I snatch every one I can at the flea markets up and squirrel them away like a pack rat. Heck my favorite rod is a Black series Atomic 7'6 heavy I use for glide baits. It is a beast.

My jerkbaits are saved!
I was rigging tackle for a veterans tournament I am host boating tomorrow and I literally spent about 15 minutes just admiring how awesome looking this 6th sense divine swim jig looked and how it's gonna land me a 6+ pound bluebill munching bucketmouth out of the grass tomorrow! Yes I'm easily amused!

I am so done with the Bait Monkey.
The bait monkey talked me into a custom glide bait that I had a local tacklemaker build and paint up in a blueback herring pattern for me. Costed me 100 bucks(which is actually cheap). It is absolutely beautiful but now I'm scared to throw it. lol

Post a photo a day!
Rigging tackle for tomorrow's tournament. Most people hate this but it is one of my favoritew things to do. It's almost therapeutic.

My jerkbaits are saved!
I have a big problem with aggressive spotted bass blowing the eyes off my jerkbaits. I went to Bass Pro today just cruising around and looking at everything and I found these stick on eyes. I never knew these were even out there. I thought to myself that these would be great to replace the lost eyes on a jerkbait. OMG I think I might like the aftermarket eyes better than the ones that come on it. Here is a pic of the packaging and a comparison pic as well. Stock eyes are on the right and the aftermarkets on the left. The examples are Berkley Stunna 112+1s.

Zoom ultravibe worm
Mike Iaconelli taught me this secret and I'm gonna share it with you. Take your speed worm and in the crook of the inside of the cut in the tail use a metal straw and cut a round circle out of the tail. It will make that thing flop like a crappie that just got tossed in a cooler full of ice.

do you carry a pocket knife daily?
I am a redneck so of course I always have a pocketknife on me. I carry a Kershaw assisted folder with 3 inch blade.

How’s everyone spring going??
Pretty crappy to be honest. Last year I had tons of time and spent many days on the water. This year my youngest is graduating high school and for some reason he is keeping me busier than both of my other children did put together when they graduated. The fishing has been good when Ive go to go but its getting there that's the problem. Got my last spring vets charity tourney on tues. and I'm excited even though from my buddy's reports It's been fishing very tough.

The decline of our lakes.
I used to be able to walk down to the lake and catch white bass until I hit my limit which was 60 a day. Now the white bass are gone and the place I used to fish isn't even in the water anymore and if it was I still couldn't go there because it's owned with a big house on it.

Sabine River Elite series
I get the premise of the idea, but it is pretty boring watching these guys catch 12 inch fish. Heck even I can do that! 😂

Randleman Lake NC
Got another North State vet tourney coming up on tuesday. Anybody got any info on what the fish are doing on Randleman Lake in Level Cross NC? I always want to put my veteran on the fish and get him a nice bag to weigh in for our charity tournament. Nothing brings a smile to these guys faces like putting a big bass on the hook for them.

a rod for Punching. my eyes were opened.
My big kayak is 14 feet but my river kayak is only 12. On the river I will absolutely not go longer than 7 feet because accurate casting trumps power for me but on the lake in my big kayak I've been known to sneak a 7'6 heavy flippin stick on there from time to time. Its ok as long as nobody knows right?😂

a rod for Punching. my eyes were opened.
Two things... 1. For punching I will not use a rod shorter than a 7'6 2. On a Kayak I will not use a rod longer than 7 feet. LOL I am a walking contradiction.

I don't partake but my wife who is prescribed the stuff for fibro myalgia swears it can cure everything from cancer to rusty bumper hitches. I wouldn't be surprised.

Bass Fishing (Mis)Adventure
I used to have a hat that said this is my lucky fishing hat. It was cursed. First time I wore it I blew both tires on my trailer on my way to the lake. Second time I wore it i ended up in the water due to a wake boat I should have been paying attention to. Third time I wore it I lost my keys over the side and had to dive for them for an hour and a half. I gave that hat to my brother in law and have no idea what happened to it after that.

Not sure which kayak to get. Thoughts
Native Bonafide and Old Town are my only considerations if I were buying a new kayak. Nucanoes are good but for some reason I don't like the way they feel for me. Best advice I can give is to try out as many brands as you can and see what you may like best.

bass kayakers. when you venture onto a boat. you bring everything?
I am blessed enough to have both a boat and two kayaks. When ever I coangle with someone I usually bring 4 rods and I have a plano bag that holds four or five 3700 trays. Most of that gear does come off the kayak however because once I move something around in the boat I can never find it again or I'll forget to put my gear back and when I go to fish a boat tournament I'll be lacking.

do you dress like a fisherperson?
I guess my style of dress could be more considered "Tacticool". I'm a bit of one of those paranoid prepper types so I dress accordingly.😂

anti-seasick tips?
Start your dramamine dosage the night before. Stay well hydrated. Eat something small and easy on the stomach NO GREASY FOOD! Think granola bar. Continue dramamine until the trip is complete. Enjoy. I was in the Navy as well.

Sabine River Elite series
BASS magazine is very important outhouse material for me. I have a stack next to the pot where I do my best work. I predicted 48 pounds for the winning weight, I can't remember who all I picked but if you picked Palanuik you're having a rough day. Whiffed on day 1.
