Keeping track of bass caught
Ha the 2000 club...think you guys would have to let me add up 3 or 4 years to get in the club.

Squarebill bill modification
Well I tried a little experiment...took a kvd 1.5 heated the bill up and bent it with pliers. Took it out and it ran true...also stayed only 4 to 6 inches down and it was also easy to get it to wake by holding the rod tip up. Exactly what I wanted.

Squarebill bill modification

Advice on setting the hook with jigs?
I lost a fish the other day at the shore on a jig...it happens from time to time. A jig can be an easy bait for them to throw because it has a large chunk of weight to use as leverage during head shakes and alot of people hit them super hard and create a large hole that makes throwing it easier. I often times reel down tight and lean into the fish very hard with a combination of pulling the rod and reeling at the same time. I use a much more hard hook set with a Texas rig because there is plastic to set thru. BTW I just watched a video on YouTube about slack line vs tight line jig hook sets in which Swindle takes the stance of slack line and Randall Tharp takes the tight line stance. Both guys are great jig fisherman and both have solid points. I'd recommend watching it.

I like a Christie craw in that situation...rage craw is also great

Squarebill bill modification
I've read that guys will heat the bill on a bomber long a or Cordell redfin to make it a wake bait...has anybody done this with a regular 1.5 size square bill?

I need some help...
My local lake has very few white bass so why some may be whites I suspect its mostly large mouth...maybe a few pike or smallies mixed in.
-
Flat sided cranks
Shad rap shallow #5 and various lipless cranks do work for me when the water gets under 50

I need some help...
Mono because it floats so it slows the fall in shallow water?

I need some help...
So my local lake is very low right now...all my bites have been from 2ft or less...many in just inches of water. I've thrown chatterBait, spinner bait, shallow crank with no success the past few trips....only consistent bait has been a super fluke. Fish have been busting on shad. What else should I throw? Water temps in mid to upper 50s I'd guess.

Anyone else in a slump?
I too am experiencing low water...lowest I've seen in 10+ years...maybe ever honestly. My numbers of bass have been down catching 2-3 most trips to my local haunt. Size however has made up for it...in the past week I've caught 2-2.5s,2-4s a 4.5 and a 6. Only 2 dinks in the mix.

Brutal bite right now, anyone else?
Last week water was in the mid to high 60s here...had a cold snap at the end of the week and water dropped and hovered in the mid 50s. I caught 21 bass Friday...it was only 28 in the morning. Went out this evening for a few hours...it was tough but I caught a dink and one pushing 4.5 also missed another good bite.

Crankbaits- Silent or rattles?
I tend to throw rattles in restricted vision times like muddy water or cloudy/rainy conditions and silent on sunny days or cleaner water.

Single tail grubs on swim jig...
So I've used them in the past but have gotten away from them in favor of rage menaces and speed craws. Who still uses the old single grub on a swim jig? What determines when you throw one? What are your favorite grubs for this application?
