What's more important?
This right here. Some places I fish it's 3lbs others it's 5plus. I like catching fish so I'm happy with whatever but I've done this a while so I'm in the hunt for good ones.

Shelter in place Ribs
Tonight I grilled a 20oz ribeye medrare and also cut a Vidalia onion in half brushed it with olive oil and charred it up as well. My lady made us some baked taters in the air fryer. A little butter, Greek yogurt and cheddar on the spuds. Went slice of steak with a slice of onion. Washed it down with several I've cold Buds. Pretty solid summer meal.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
I'm getting into a few tonight. Nothing crazy just some standard Budweisers. Still taste good after doing some yard work and standing in front of a hot grill.

Shallow cranks
I love these. Also the bandit 100 does some work for me.

Confidence
Yeah some lures just have a profile that's looks good like a jig looks a little like a lot of things. But most other lures not so much. I've never seen an 8inch gizzard shad with 3 giant trebles hanging off it in nature. This is My dad to a T. Not sure your age but you guys are probably close. His few is well they but it last time do they will now.

Worm question?
Thanks for the response

Spinnerbait trailer keepers?
Only things I personally like as a spinner bait trailer are the split tail ones and a 4inch fluke. Neither one adds a ton of action.

Guess it's just not our year
Man that's rough...sometimes in life things seem to come in streaks like this and you guys are definitely going through one of those rough patches the past several months. I'm hoping everything turns out good for your wife. And I'll definitely catch a few for you if I learn how to catch some for me first! Great friends are hard to come by especially ones that treat you like family..appreciate yours and be thankful you have somebody like that in your life.

Worm question?
What are your most productive colors? I'm gonna get a pack of two of the 6inch

One Solution to Crowded Water ~ Fish at Night
The lakes around me are all county parks with camping and because of that they are closed to fishing after 1030pm. So that leaves me no real option of night fishing. After my experience last night I wish it was an option. I was fishing off a jetty catching a few decent bass and the closest people to me were probably almost 100 yards down the bank. All of a sudden a guy and his girlfriend/wife walk up and start fishing literally almost back to back with me. I know it's a public place but they didn't even have the decency to ask...if they did it wouldn't have been a big deal at all. So i picked my rods up threw them in my truck and said a few choice words to them as I drove away. I wish I wouldn't have done the last part since it didn't solve anything. But I'm not gonna beat myself up over it..as far as I'm concerned they broke two rules 1. Unwritten fishing ethics 2. Coronavirus protocol which is one everybody should know by now. Most annoying part is I would expect this from teens but these two were probably my age..if guess late 30s...they are old enough to know better.

Worm question?
I've always thrown culprits, power worms and trick worms in summer. This may be blasphemous to some of you guys but I've never thrown a jelly worm. Don't know why cuz I've seen them mentioned a million times on here...several guys have even said they are a favorite. Gonna order a pack on my next TW order.

Confidence
I agree with both of these 100%. You definitely have to be confident that you are in an area with not just bass but also catchable bass. Otherwise what's the point of fishing that area. Also you need to be well rounded enough to cover you bases. If your great with a moving bait but any use a bottom lure to save your life and they aren't chasing...well your in for a long day..well maybe a short day actually ? I'm pretty good with a wide array of lures and presentations...but my strengths are definitely weightless senkos, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits/swim jigs and jigs namely finesse flipping style like a sniper jig. This sets me up for success in most conditions pretty much all year. I would say when I struggle most is actually probably dead of summer at peak heat...I attribute that mostly to not having a boat and lots of fish being offshore. Usually still manage a few.

Worm question?
Yeah the senko..and for the most part a lot of soft stickbaits are magic

Confidence
Look I'm no expert at bass fishing but I've noticed several people saying they can't catch bass on a chatterbait...buzzbait as well. How is that even possible? I don't throw a chatter often opting for a spinner bait or swim jig instead but I caught a 6 on one just a few weeks ago. And a buzzbait well don't even get me started...May be my favorite topwater ever. Just a few years back I was throwing a white war eagle buzzbait in a light rain one fall day. For big ones it was about as good a day as I can remember. Caught 10 fish I think..nothing under 3ish lbs...my best 5 went around 25 or 26 lbs.

Best hollow frog
I haven't used a ton of frogs...I've used h2o express, strike king, live target and pad crasher.Booyah is the easiest out of that bunch for me...also my favorite overall frog. It's cheap durable and catches fish.
-
Fish weight
I'd agree...somewhere around 5 or maybe just north of that. Nice one anywhere no doubt.
-
Worm question?
This makes a lot of sense. Guess this is why a weightless Senko works everywhere all the time. Can be fished anywhere...has a slow lifelike action..and is generally non offensive.

Confidence
This is exactly what i was getting at. I always try to remain open minded and fish the conditions but sometimes confidence like any emotion can get in the way and decision making suffers from some feeling making us relaxed and comfortable. As I play this game a little longer I am getting better at setting my heart aside using my head and going with my gut. Two times in the past few years I remember distinctly this working in my favor. Back in the beginning of April I was having a slow time with a jerkbait. Water was perfect for a lipless..a bait I use but don't have total confidence in...tied one on and literally first cast caught a 7. Fall of 2018 I went to a local pond in November where I usually do well with a jerkbait. It was overcast and the water has a little color so I just brought a jig rod with a spare jig. Fished hard and was rewarded with one pushing close to 8.

Confidence
I'm a firm believer in having confidence in certain lures and techniques. We all have those baits and presentations we lean on heavily especially under certain conditions and in certain spots. But how much do you feel like this holds us back? How many more fish do you imagine could be caught if we weren't tied to our preconceived notions of what works based solely on preference and past experience?
-
Worm question?
Let me start by saying I'm no expert on worms but I'm far from a novice as well. Also I wanna say that I'm aware that they are productive all year round. But I have always wondered why worms are so good or so thrown in the summer? What makes them so good in hot water? Especially large ribbon tail worms

Time
Unlike several of you in not retired or even close. In fact I just turned 37 two weeks ago so I've got a long ways to go. As far as fishing goes i work 12s...48 hrs one week 36 the next...so I can fish a lot honestly. And I've been fishing like crazy this year up until around my bday. All my days off have been 95 and humid so I haven't gone.

Sungill Color
I use a zoom fluke in sungill on the back of a chatterbait
- Big Bite Baits?

Shallow cranks
I'm not a huge crankbait guy but do use them from time to time. And I recognize the fish catch ability they have. What are your favorite shallow cranks? Let's say 4ft or less...I ask since I fish from shore and don't have access to deep water

Cooking
Been cooking a lot lately but tonight we got take out from a small family run Mexican place that's excellent in my town. Homemade refried beans and rice...Homemade rojo and tamatillo salsas. Homemade tortillas. Place is legit. Tonight I had chile rellenos with queso on top instead of enchilada sauce. It was pretty ridiculous.
