How well do You deal with getting skunked?
This, plus we fish fairly pressured fisheries as well

First Foray Into BFS
I'm just teasing I use bfs as well and Enjoy using it, but in all reality a size 18 ball bearing swivel prevents this from happening on spinning reels completely even in high wind and light lures, and even having an educated thumb many people including the pros backlash a lot, and I mean a lot. I'd say the best caster in the world gets an overrun over 100 casts. Awesome! I've been using tiny size 18 bb swivels and it has solved 100% of wind knot problems, and btw I love bfs as well but I love teasing as well

First Foray Into BFS
Enjoy ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? I'd rather take that then below, way easier to cut and retie a wind knot than toy around with a BSf backlash lol

Reel for dedicated crankbait rod
Anything will work, gear ratio is usually opinion based for cranks from everything I've read, I'd suggest you buy your favorite reel.

Curado worm gear issue
If the worm gear itself looks in good condition try this. Most common fix for this when I have this issue is the plastic gears on the reel. Let me ask if you took all the pieces off of the reel? On 99% of low profile baitcasters there are two small plastic gears that turn the line guide, check if any are missing teeth, they should not be missing teeth. Now there should be some kind of metal plate holding it in place, on this example it is piece number 01 on top left of screen. If have never touched it sense recieving from the factory it is not the issue. However if you took it off and screwed it back on and the reel is worse than before that is your issue. This is because you don't want to put it on fingertight but instead looser. This is because it kind of acts like a leveling system for the gear and if you crank it down the gears won't be even. (If you have not touched this piece it should not be an issue) P.S (one of the worm gear bars could be bent, the ones supporting it, all issues listed above where issues from some of my reels with unsmooth retrieves and broken line guide movement) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m6XgTKqoejfw1ila8hpQwoNQHzCqol3G/view

Flip and swim jigs
Swimming a jig has been a great technique for me, a jig marketed as a "swim jig" is just to catch fisherman by adding two eyes to the side or the head. Yes they may come through grass better but so does a grass jig, I just use a casting jig as a swimjig and throw a keitech or rage craw on the end, i promise you the fish will not know it's not a "swim jig" jig.

Hair Jig Recommendations
Not sure what size you are thinking about, but Tom reccomended me the spro phat fly and I've been liking them alot, they have caught me bass and crappie, quality is solid ?

Squarebill gear
I'm not that good with squarebill cranks, but I've been using 12lb mono for 5-8 ft, 15lb for 3-5 foot, and 20lb mono for shallow 0-3 foot. It isn't perfect but has been decent for me. Also lots of people will disagree with me but I've been doing good by adding a small 1/16th oz splitshot on the line on 10lb to squeak them a little deeper on steep riprap in the 8-10 ft. In a nutshell line size is a big element for my style,

Memories, my top 5 giant bass
The real question is was this on your pink and black jig color+pork? Been playing around with it like you rsccomended and it's not bad, except for getting teased

First Foray Into BFS

Would you purposefully keep a spawning fish?
Yeah I kept a few bedding bass.

Full Cork Jig/Worm Rod ($100-$180ish)
Would never buy a g loomis because they are insanely expensive, unless you sponsor me to be the next mlf pro ?

How many strands do you think a braided line should have?
In a nutshell, more strands Is quieter less noisey won't burn through stainless steel line guides as fast, and won't dig into wood as much as a lower strand. Low strands are good for cutting through vegetation. I only use low strands because I proudly hate braid because of price, digs into spool, leader knots, is terrible around wood and rock, ruins stainless steel guides, and knots poorly in comparison to nylon style lines. I only use it for frogging when I have to

B.A.S.S Vs MLF
I don't really care about pro fishing or their equipment, I always find equivalents that look better quality and price wise
-
Risky topic…what are your personal biases???
Braid is frustrating, digs into spool, does not knot as well as nylon type lines, has scared fish in clear water for me, has no stretch, is expensive, leader knots are ugh and time consuming expecially on a cold morning, and only use it when frogging or using super thick wire hooks, because mono/floro doesnt really set heavy wire hooks amazingly.

"Non-Fishing" fishing Gear?
Nail clippers and pliers, buying "fishing branded" versions of these run 3x more, plus I'm sure we can all admit we loose them frequently

Your Total Years
amazing info, was never around back then but my grandfather used to live up in san bernardino in the outskirts and went up there often, he did do some fishing but hunted a lot in that area until it got to old for him to hunt with his age+all the hunting permits rules, fees, and raffles.

Why are swimbait heads so pricey?
I use ballheads from owner or gammies, cheaper with the best hooks in the game, you can also go with eagle claw and that's cheap, don't think the fish care about a small painted head much, especially because it's going to eventually chip anyways.

What are your honest thoughts on the lake now and how it's changed over the years?

Baitcaster worm gear
its usually one of the first parts of a reel to fail, or something related to it. Wether grease or oil, if you are fishing in that schmucky water in frogging areas or grass or sedimenty waters in general, clean the gear often, in the summer on my frogging reel I have to do it every other trip because grass+algae gets stuck in it. this is for my old ambassadeur conventional swimbait reel ^^^

My first cast with BFS was surprisingly disappointing. Haha.
Bought a few old langley collectibles, what a story behind them huh?
-
Your Current Hard Jerk Bait Set Up ?
Medium acting spinning rod works just fine, casting can struggle to throw the lighter jerks well been using 6-10lb depending on size of jerks.

How do you determine leader length on Carolina-Rig?
Anything from a foot to 3 feet being the most, I don't think it matters to terribly much because the lure sits on the bottom most of the time, it only changes for me when fishing the salt or floating baits for trout, then it starts to get important on leader length.
