  1. I had no tape or scale so i measured against my arm and the rod. Over 22 inch and though she had shoulders she was lean. Probably between 5 and 6 pounds.
  2. River smallies are nomadic and tend to school up. You will likely catch resident bass all year at a dam but it may not be as hot as prespawn. They go crazy prespawn. Oh, and did i mention they're nomadic?
  3. I throw a 6 ft MLF from the bank and feel like i can hit anything. I've used a StC Premier & Triumph and even a 6-6 LF on the river.
  4. At this point i no longer think about why i hookset, or what flips my switch but my ratio is pretty good so ima just keep on swinging.
  5. https://www.anglingsports.ca/contact London ON shop that i trust.
  6. Yeah, I have a 6ft hmg mlf that i cut the keeper off of. Whenever i run a finger across that knub i remember how happy i am that i cut that #$%# off. Fishing should always bring you joy.
  7. Weightless on a worm hook. Let it dead drift from upstream and i add a split shot for downstream drifts. Mine are a BPS instore brand about 3" lg.
  8. I get most strikes within 5 ft of the bank but i think its important to start upstream and as deep as possible. I dont know if the bass are waiting for my jig at the bank or if im dragging them out of the depths. But they do strike at the bank, just before they get shallow enough to be seen.
  9. Yesterday fishing in 4ft of clear water i watched my deer hair jig dance across a stream bed and pause just long enough to entice a 3# smallie to rush out from some rocks and stop with his nose right on my jig. I thought i could see the bit of white belly hair on the jig and so when the jig disappeared i guessed that the smallie had vacuumed it up so i set hook and had a great battle. Afterwards I was shaking for a good 5 minutes. Love sight fishing
  10. I am on foot off the bank in ankle deep water. I cover water and carry maybe 10 jigs. Most importantly i carry one rod. I hand select the location, then the gear, then the lures. I tie my own and some of them work really good. But more importantly the water requires only a few techniques to smash smallies. I think the right amount of maribou and a balance between the lead wt and the amount of deer hair for lift can help a jig almost float threw a run or dive into a pool.
  11. One warm day turned into a week of 80 f and blazing sun. The water on the creek I'm fishing is low and choking with carp in spawn. I saw 3 larger female smallies on beds. Carp But, in about 3 ft of water i saw maybe 12 to 15 smallies run upstream at tremendous pace. Theh shot threw like a biker gang. Backdrop is its friday the 13th, full moon and the Port Dover Run is today.
