The Hawg Hunters
I think the point is that the big bass is already there, if your plan is right. He doesn't need to show up somewhere, he just needs to be ready to eat. Am I right?

The Hawg Hunters
I'm patient, but I don't have the patience for true trophy hunting right now. Very much respect your endeavors in trying this, and glad to hear a report on how it is going. If what we are after in this sport is creating memories and enjoying what nature has to offer, hawg hunting as you call it seems like an excellent way to do it. The few or couple big fish I've caught have occurred mostly by chance, and I know it. I just happened to be in a good place at a good time doing the right thing, and things worked out. But when you meditate over a plan and achieve success doing something that you planned specifically for targeting big fish, that has got to have a cool amount of fulfillment associated with it, and your odds increase, however small they might be. Very cool

Chatterbait/spinnerbait question
Usually within about 3-4 handle turns, often quicker. How do you get a bass to not get a good look at a spinnerbait? Drop it right in front of him softly and start bringing it away. I don't fish spinnerbaits fast most of the time because I don't see a need to. I'm not fishing an area. I'm fishing a target

Chatterbait/spinnerbait question
Chatterbaits seem like a pretty simple deal to me. Most people fish em with trailers. Picking what trailer you want to use, what color, and what weight is really perhaps all you need to think about when you are selecting what to throw. Spinnerbaits have a lot of parts to them and none of them are sacred. Between different weights, blade combinations and sizing, head shapes, wire length, color, trailers, and blade spacing to name some, there is a lot that goes into a spinnerbait and most people prefer to keep it simple and stick to what they have confidence in. I've used spinnerbaits with and without trailers and they both work but there is so much that goes into a spinnerbait it is almost hard to pinpoint down what the bass are reacting to. A single colorado spinnerbait behaves so differently than a tandem colorado/willow it is like they are two different lures. Favorite trailer I've used with a spinnerbait is a yum pulse, but I haven't tried a whole lot still. Because there is so much to experiment with! The spinnerbait is like heaven to a tinkerer! Most of the fish I catch on a spinnerbait bite very quickly. That is why I believe a soft landing is one of the most critical aspects of spinnerbait fishing. If it does not land softly when you are fishing shallow, most of the time you are not getting bit. My opinion.

Some thoughts on Bass Fishing
Really?! Then they suck! I can’t remember being “caught” at any time. Maybe with treble hook lures a time or two. I know what ya mean ?

What happened to closed loop spinnerbaits?
Very interesting

Swim Jigs ??
Something that I was thinking of trying this year is taking a streamlined, beefy spinnerbait with braided line and your typical flipping/frogging heavy power rod and throwing it into the thickest lily pad cover I can find and just wind it through. You could do the same thing with a swim jig and it might even be a better tool for the job. The other thing I was thinking of doing this with is a johnson silver minnow. Just food for thought.

What happened to closed loop spinnerbaits?
I have always heard that open loop spinnerbaits vibrate more than closed loop spinnerbaits.

Line advice
How the heck are you breaking Big Game I'm not saying you're doing something wrong; I'm just bewildered. I thought that stuff is invincible. Edit: Uhh I'll throw P line CXX out there for abrasion resistance. Only problem is that the memory on it can be a little crazy. But otherwise it is tough as nails and probably the all time most abrasion resistant line I've used

Do you really need to spend $100+ for a good rod?

Omnia?
Great experiences with Omnia. I got my most recent order of two that I have placed with them within maybe 3 business days. I ordered some shad raps, and they left me a note inside the package that said "Enjoy the shad raps." Well, by golly I will

I think he meant "Boujee". The Migos can help you understand it ?

Swim Jigs ??
I stood next to someone on the bank recently and they were outfishing me just rolling a swim jig slowly maybe mid water column while I was tossing a spinnerbait. They work I guess. Swim jigs are a really weird concept for me. If I was to swim a jig, I'd want it to have a bucktail/other hair skirt.

Yes, understand that too.

Do you really need to spend $100+ for a good rod?
We all catch fish. We all choose what we want to spend on tackle. Wish everybody nothing but happiness in this sport. Saw something like this posted on another thread and I’m posting it here now.
