  1. You’re right, I ain’t ever fishing enough. To clarify this was a hypothetical question. But that is not at all to say I haven’t ever missed a jig strike. I believe I have missed a couple monsters that I can remember, and those are only the ones that I could tell…
  2. Hey ya’ll, Question for you. Do you think that if a fish grabs a jig but there is no tension in the line (i.e it fell on a slack line and there is still slack in the line), it can still feel the weight of the jig and realize it is unnatural? I think I may have a misunderstanding regarding fish rejecting jigs. I’ve read several of @WRB’s posts regarding huge Florida-strain largemouth rejecting jigs in the blink of an eye, but what if there is no tension? Just looking for some expert advice from you all on this one. I unfortunately can’t ask the largemouth. We haven’t been on talking terms recently
  3. Dude. You catch good ones consistently. I'm impressed.
  4. For a couple years I used only braid to leaders on my rods. I always used FG. I have never had an FG knot fail on me and it has made me confident in leaders. That being said, less knots is a good thing and if the confidence isnt there, no need to force anything. I recently learned the palomar and I am having a grand time with it, even though I have had few issues with the improved clinch. I am careful about my drag. I have long heard that the palomar is far superior to the improved clinch for both braid and fluoro. The double improved clinch knot is a good fluoro knot also.
  5. x2. 15# big game for both of these applications. Less sensitivity with mono, but I am less concerned with sensitivity with t-rigs since bass seem to hold on to them longer than jigs. Jigs would be different story and only scenario I want fluoro. @WRB wrote a great post about differences between fluoro and mono in the past. Probably multiple great posts lol.
  6. Single bladed spinnerbaits, sometimes a small size. Buzzbaits modified a lot to get them squeaking real good. Try a dremel sander for that ?. Later in the year I will slow roll spinnerbaits. That is a technique all but unknown around here. But there’s a lotta youngsters around here so if you throw something other than a senko or chatterbait, you’re already doing something different lol
  7. Had another good weekend. Lost track of numbers. Two right around the 3lb mark and another slightly less. Buzzbait and frog pretty much the whole weekend. High water levels and cloudy. By the way, the rage tail menace is a killer buzzbait trailer. It does the one thing the z craw jrs cannot on the back of a buzzbait: allow it to track perfectly straight at all speeds. This means I can throw it more confidently in heavy cover since the hook is not running sideways.
  8. not as bad as me. I have launched the kayak and sat in it, only to realize that my paddle is on shore. That was a fun one
  9. Really late to this but nice to meet ya Elias. I wouldn’t mind winding up in Northern Cali at some point lol. Seems a beauty.
  10. I realized you were talking about it for safety reasons after I posted. Gotcha. Yeah, that’s what you never want to see
  11. Dad? Is that you? Never could get him into fishing but he loves hunting and watching for the critters
  12. For some reason it was difficult to explain to my roommates why I was watching this video.... ?.
  13. Good to know what is name of it again?
  14. I am paying much more attention to the specific frequency I believe my blade(s) are putting off more than anything else right now. That is affected by not only blade type but wire length and diameter. Probably more factors as well. Not really too interested in water displacement even though Clunn talked about it a whole lot in. spinnerbait seminar.
  15. Topwater fun By the way I am buying cavitrons just for the blades. I am not joking.
  16. Got out before storm came in. Did really well for numbers. No big ‘uns though. 15 on spinnerbait and 5 on buzzbait. Here’s a sampler of five of them
  17. More sideways pictures because technology is flawless
  18. Hey, amen brother. Just saying I wish that I could make more time for it but it is the only thing I do for fun anyways. I have not been on a good streak of posts today.... think I'll just take a break for a while
  19. Alright so Catt you just send a message in whatever format you like to my instructors to tell them why fishing is more important than learning why mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell and problem solved! Too easy! Lol. You’ll do it right???? I will be fishing most every weekend
  20. MH MF is what I use… I have no idea but having a convo about rods on another thread and some people using fast or extra fast on their spinnerbait rods with mono. Idk man, idk. Whatever works
  21. Alright. I will hijack thread if I talk longer about this. When I was using medium heavy, fast I was also throwing braid to leader which I believe was just too much. I prefer moderate fast for forgiveness and increased casting distance when desired. I have drag much tighter on flipping setup
  22. Yeppers. Most of the time my drag is set about 4lbs. On another note, when my "spinnerbait" rod was a medium heavy, fast action, I noticed my hookup ratio was poor compared to another medium, fast action. I concluded that the rod must be ripping the lure out of the fish's mouth. Switched to a moderate fast taper with most recent rod, and it gets em good. Right tool for right job
  23. I ran CXX straight for a little while. Seemed low stretch but I don't really know. My only complaint about the line was that the memory could be bad. Other than that, CXX is just ridiculously strong and abrasion resistant. It is solid stuff. I haven't really found an application for it, though, as my spinnerbait and buzzbait line is confidently Trilene Big Game and other setups run different stuff That's interesting. I don't think switching to CXX will solve this though. What rod are you using? You absolutely do not need low stretch line to stick fish on single hooks, especially on moving ones
  24. Idk man I just focus on seasonal things, temperature, if I’m seeing baitfish, and if something isn’t working or I’m not catching the size I want, I try something different. edit: unless it’s smallmouth. Then I’m just clueless and try to force feed spinnerbaits
