  1. CXX is super strong stuff. I just don’t like how thick it is or how much memory it has #StraightMonoBrigade
  2. I did try it some, but admittedly not a lot. I kept telling myself that it was location that was my problem. And it probably still was. I didn’t react to the lake changing. A week ago, bottom contact offshore could be good. Remember I mentioned prespawn ers? I think they were waiting for the water level to come up. Well it did, and as a result, I think those fish left me
  3. It’s me. I have all your scissors
  4. I made the mistake yesterday of only bringing bottom contact lures. I mean seriously, I had no moving lures in the boat. No bites on bottom contact, but I had three strikes that I couldn’t hook when I started to reel my jig or t-rig off the bottom. That’s when I knew I messed up.
  5. Only thing I caught today is feelings. For some more tackle. Dinner for two, me and bait monkey
  6. So I’m pretty late in updating the forums on this but pretty much as soon as I got to TX, I purchased a Hobie Mirage Outback. The store I bought it from in Austin was kind enough to install the anchor trolley you see at a discounted price. They are called No Bad Days Kayak. I can’t recommend them enough. It’s the best customer service I’ve received for any purchase. Very satisfied with the purchase. The kayak is fast, stable, and maneuverable.
  7. That's a gorgeous fish. Very nice
  8. More important than how you work, IMO, is rate of fall and profile of the jig. And above that, is ever-important location. Where you throw it. A jig is easy to fish. I don’t even consider it very different from a t-rig. The bite is the same.
  9. Since when have you started being helpful on this forum?
  10. You know, maybe it’s just me, but I do not have a formula for how I work a jig. Yes, I will let it fall on a slack line. Yes, sometimes I will shake it when it’s still. Most of the time when it’s up against something. But otherwise, man I might make a triple hop here, then next slow lift here, then next double hop… oh look there’s a stump lemme shake it quick…. Okay no bite lemme pull it over… then maybe drag it…. I do not care about how I’m “supposed” to work a jig
  11. iRod Genesis III Harold’s Lone Star Special, despite the name, is marketed as a “do-all” rod in a shorter package. I’ve had that rod for a while now and I agree with that assessment. I would switch reels around in my setups and pair it with a Lew’s standard LFS 6 speed. Baitcasting
  12. Nice bass By the way, you're a nerd. I just wanted to say that.
  13. I doubled up on spinning rods. This is the exact same as my other spinning setup, with one caveat. The reel is a 6 speed instead of 5 speed on my other. St Croix Triumph 6'6" medium fast with a Shimano Sedona 2500HG 20lb braid to 10lb mono I really liked my first spinning setup and have found myself using techniques that I prefer with spinning more than in the past, so I doubled up. I also have a Lew's KVD Composite Cranking Rod 7'4" MH being shipped now from Midway USA
  14. Da hamma Da hamma hamma on tha fish with the gilly, yeah we all go silly watchin t-billy
  15. Me too. But I've given up on the idea of a goldilocks spinnerbait that just works in all situations all the time. Doesn't exist. There's so many great spinnerbaits and blade combos. On my lake of choice now though, I don't think I'll be fishing a spinnerbait nearly as much. It lines up better for other baits.
  16. You’re probably being too picky. Lots of spinnerbaits work. Also, I don’t like a longer hook on a spinnerbait. Those short hooks you say you don’t like… yeah those are my jam
  17. Woodford Reserve is one of my favorite bourbons I am enjoying this glass of mediocre Texas bourbon to celebrate this 4 day weekend filled with horrible weather. I will count my blessings, however. It’s a long weekend for me, and I’m loving life. Cheers Ditch
  18. Oh my. That’s a tank. A FishTank
  19. The Ditch Panda, I recommend you try Benchmark Full Proof. I enjoyed the bottle I had. Stretched it out to about 20 days. Now I’m trying a Texan bourbon so I can try and further indoctrinate myself in Texanology. The bourbon is okay. 7/10. The Texas is great. 10/10
  20. I bought a bunch of these after test driving them. Recommend taking a look. That’s an owner jungle hook 4x. Hand tied skirt Coda Lures Apex All Purpose Jig based in Texas.
  21. They finally fixed the heater up there? Alright, it’s that time. Everyone rally around @ol'crickety for her bog fishing adventures
  22. I’ll come out of hiding to say congratulations on the PB, @Functional! Really awesome fish. Seen a lot of really nice fish on here recently @Pat Brown, @BigAngus752, @PhishLI, @Team9nine
