  1. IMPO..... With that rod I would be using a 5.1:1 gr for medium diving cranks down to a 3.8:1 gr for deep divers... Tight Lines!
  2. Everyone has given good guess'. The one sure way to find out is remove the filled spool and pull the tag end. If the line is coming off the spool then look closely as to whether or not it is actually digging in or slipping. If neither, have the reel serviced... Our experience with Quantum E pt's are drags do not hold up over time.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  3. papajoe222, Now that's some fantastic thread work. The inlays are exceptional... Just an old rod builders the .02¢ Tight Lines All!
  4. X2... I have a 7'6" custom I built in that blank that I really like for live bait fishing.... Tight Lines!
  5. Try it again when the weather is good and you will see a difference again...............
  6. Your both wrong.... If that was the case reel mfg's wouldn't add the anti-reverse on/off switch... I use back reeling all the time on my light live bait rigs that get hit by bigger fish... Have boated many 4+lbrs on UL rigs that wouldn't have been boated without back reeling.. Just an old service tech's .02¢ Tight Lines!
  7. Running TSI on a pinion bearing.?? Is this a pinion bearing from spinning reels or a pinion base bearing in a BC reel. Neither IMPO need to be treated. Tight Lines!
  8. Place it on a nice 7'6" to 8' swim bait rod, and go catch some good chunks...
  9. Besides all those BIG Cats, carp, drum all on heavy lines come to mind...
  10. If your talking about the CC cap tension spring, i don't have any problems getting it to set back on top of the bearing pack and slid into the keeper slot. Hope you aren't trying to put the spring wire into the slot with the keeper in place they don't fit together. The older reels used o-rings, and the bearings were held down by thin wire keepers. Always make sure the bearing pack is fully seated...
  11. The ABEC scale is an industry accepted standard for the tolerances of a ball bearing. It was developed by the Annular Bearing Engineering Committee (ABEC) All bearings are ABEC, whether or not they are 3, 5, 7, 9 tell the tolerances, and actually have nothing to do with lure weights.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  12. Tom, It's an ABEC5, bet it is in the spool support line, behind the engagement pin maybe... Shimano does install 3' & 5's in some reels, depends on the series. Tight Lines!
  13. @ $500+ on Ebay, you probably will have to purchase one and give us all a review...
  14. X2 ... The truth.....
  15. If your into collecting info on Abu's then I would visit this Facebook group.... We who loves the ABU Ambassadeur....https://www.facebook.com/groups/222149684443/ Tight Lines!
  16. Greets... If you don't like lighter power/action rods, don't expect to throw light baits. You will probably have to go with a softer tip action to be able to throw the lighter baits. Might look into a 7' medium power, with a moderate fast tip action. Just an old builders .02¢ Tight Lines!
  17. Found one sold on E-bay.. Here is the written info.. Abu Garcia C3 original series casting rod, 1 pc., Med.Power, 6'6", Line: 8-20lb, Lure: 1/4-3/4oz Hope it helps some... Tight Lines!
  18. Don't get your dremmel out yet... The Shimano brake collars come in 4 configurations... Smoke/Clear- Lightest Red/Pink- Lighter Green- Heavier Grey- Heaviest US nib reels come stock with the red blocks and they add the greens to the box.. The JDM stock green blocks.... For what your trying to do sounds like you need the clear blocks... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  19. IMPO.....NIB should be smooth and free, no grinding.. Return the reel for refund or replacment, don't mess with it.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  20. x2.. Once the thumbscrew is lose, twist the side plate downward.
  21. Any one of the pro service techs here would.... Also why we don't do anything on reels late in the evening... I would recommend you send it off to Shimano, they handle that problem all the time and would have the proper way to remove/replace the screw... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
