  1. Sounds logical to me. I may have to try that cracker trick. Keep on looking and you’ll find them. Good luck!
  2. I recently found some worms that had been hidden away in an old tackle box since the 1990’s. They were in a Plano type box, unsealed for over 20 years. I used them, and caught fish. I expect that they would’ve outlasted me if I hadn’t found them and used them up.
  3. It sounds like you’re doing what you can. I almost always see fish that I spooked when I’m walking around a pond. If you’re not seeing any forage, not seeing any fish speeding away, and not catching anything in multiple trips to the same pond it might be time to look for another pond. You could always try that one again when the season changes. What lures are you trying?
  4. I get to pond fish more than I do in a boat. Some days I just want to go to the pond and catch fish. On those days I use the trusty lures that always seem to catch fish there. They work more often than not. Other days I go to the pond to experiment with lures I’ve never used. Sometimes my experiments catch fish, and sometimes they don’t. I consider it successful if I learned something…even if I didn’t catch fish.
  5. Oh man, she'll be telling that great story forever. The fish probably went back and told the story to his buddies too. It probably led to a discussion about whether fish or fishermen are smarter...just like we have about fish. You didn't help our side @Biglittle8! ? Seriously, glad you're OK, and thanks for sharing.
  6. I like those worms. I'd guess that I've caught more LMB this summer on one of those than any other lure.
  7. Thanks for the link. I missed that one in my search. There’s some good discussion there.
  8. Congrats! Sounds like a good day on the water. Hope the eyes recover quickly from the smoke.
  9. I have recently started using fluorocarbon, and have decided that I like it. My original stash of fluorocarbon is getting low, and I’m thinking about buying it in larger spools next time. It will take me a while to go through 1,000 yds of line so my questions are: how long will fluorocarbon last, and is there anything I need to do to make it last longer (like keep it out of sunlight, etc.)?
  10. We had schools busting shad all over our end of the river last fall. Not just little ones. We saw a lot of big ones. We threw everything in the tackle box at them, but got nothing. We might as well have been putting 99¢ cheeseburgers in the middle of an all you can eat seafood buffet. All we got from it was a sore shoulder from all the casting.
  11. Great topic, and replies to all. I am going to work on adopting this philosophy. I catch myself wondering, “was that a bite?” way too often. By the time I convince myself it’s probably not a bite…it never is.
  12. A quick rain shower cooled things off last night so I headed to a nearby pond with about an hour to fish. Only a couple of dinks to show for it, but that's better than not fishing.
  13. That was cool. Looked like you caught a couple of them on top of the grass. lol
  14. Nice painting, nice memory, and a priceless gift.
  15. Thanks!
  16. Thanks to @roadwarrior for letting me tag along with him yesterday. I always feel like I learn something, and have a great time when I get to fish with him. The bite was slow in the heat, but we both managed to land a few. Mostly small, but a couple decent ones. This one was one of those times when you see a perfect spot that requires a perfect cast, and you have one shot at it. I won't hit a spot like that on the first cast every time, but this time I dropped a rage swimmer right in its face. It was a jumper so it was a really fun fight.
  17. Yep. I really enjoy making sure a catfish never bites anyone after I catch it.
  18. I know someone who subscribed a few months ago. He's shown me most of what he's been sent, and it is usually pretty good looking stuff. He got a nice looking glide bait, various types of crankbaits, different types of soft plastics, etc.
  19. Well, it looks like you got a really good hook set. ?
  20. We'll probably have something like Tony Stark's JARVIS in our sunglasses at that point that will probably say, "There's a 3.2 pounder next to that laydown." before we even cast.
  21. @TnRiver46's food posts always look good. @bulldog1935 has some good looking ones too. @Nelson Wormefeller's chicken oozing out of a can? I'll have to take your word for it being good. ??
  22. I didn't take my FIL as mentioned in the above threads, but I did help him move some furniture before I went fishing. Maybe it helped. haha I caught a few dinks, and one decent one. This one hit a green pumpkin trick worm.
  23. Based on the posts from the past few days, it sounds like it's a good time to go fishing with your father in law. My FIL doesn't fish, but I may have to ask if he'll go with me anyway. ?
  24. I agree. They are pretty fun to catch, but it can get interesting trying to get a hook out of those slippery jokers.
  25. Great day indeed! Congrats on the 10 pounder.
