Inspired? that is a big word. Blanchard and Covid inspired me to start kayak fishing.

the seats and stuff. loose hardware. i would lose them immediately. i didnt like his boat at all. it looked more like a canoe. but it was stable. he didnt buy any accessories so stuf just floated around his feet. his main criteria was that it was light to carry thru his apartment so he could put it on the patio.

my friend fishes a Nucanoe (10 footer). i think he wants a hobie now. he runs a very inexpensive trolling motor off the back transome and it is a bit of a pain. the handle is tough to reach and lifting the motor is even tougher. all the drive train stuff felt like aftermarket stuff to him, so he didnt buy in. he can stand up in anything. even boat wakes. paddling it sucks. it kills me watching him set up. screwing in the seat, i cant believe he hasnt lost any of the hardware. set up is slow, since he needs to take it completely apart to put the stuff inside his truck. i got into them a few years ago at about 40 feet at lake Berryessa. the trick was a dropshot with the 3" Hazadong shad by Megabass. the hit would come when i lifted the rig up after casting it away from me a bit.

I have never had braid dig into a spinning spool. casting, yes. I go with 50lb+. no more issues.

i can get a kayak ontop of a ford Taurus. no problem. you only have to lift half the weight of a kayak at a time. cheesecake. i saw a guy lift a giant Native 13 something onto a jeep wrangler. no pool noodles even. he just grunted it up there upside down and grabbed the end on the ground and push/slid it on top.

there might be 1053 videos on the youtube on how to put a kayak onto a sedan. I do know it gets easier if you have one of two things: 1. a light kayak 2. or an old car you dont care too much about.

that vroom vroom vroom sound of some pedal drives i hear seem excessive. are some of them quiet?

i would go to yakima or Thule websites and see what racks fit your car. and they come with max load capacities. my gut tells me you kayak will just fit, weightwise.

i ride a bike and the hobie system worked well for me. it is like a step machine. closer to walking, which i do way more than biking. so the muscle memory was not an issue. my friend fished with the smaller passport. kid you not. he pulled a small raft with his lunch. he had no room onboard. he upgraded to the Compass, which is where i would jump on board to a Hobie if i was trying to save a few bucks. eyes closed, it feels like my Outback.

all my V110 slow float. pretty sure it varies depending on water and conditions.

both of those look nice!! they look like fishing deck boots. I wear NRS booties and Astral Rasslers. I need them to either keep water out, or drain. drain in warm weather. A boot that fills with water and has nowhere to go is of no use to me. the Rasslers drain and dry so quickly.

I think the Zoom Z-Drop is fairly neutral. I have tested at the ramp and it floats horizontal.

if I DIY, I do unsweet with a quick splash of sweet.

i'm in good shape. maybe a few packs of worms as i go along, but i am done.

i'm good with canned fish. sardines, tuna, etc. in Chinese grocery stores they have a tuna packed with bamboo shoots and a hot sauce. so good dumped over a big bowl of hot white rice for the days i dont want to cook. my friends and i punted once and used a can of salmon and made campfire-side salmon cakes that were great.

I would be so amazed at how many fish they got. magic of film editing, a concept that escaped my young impressionable mind. but I would NOT say they influenced me in any way. today? I credit Blanchard for getting me off the covid-couch routine and into a kayak. he fishes local to me, and made it look fun as heck. I had that, "hey, I can do that" epiphany and the rest is history.

I think drinks for the more mature folks are like Martinis, Manhattans, whisky sours, etc. Nothing with fruit.

i learned how to yank lipless and crankbaits thru grass last year. i was okay successful, but the shock of a bass grabbing a bait coming out of grass is kinda addicting. i started using 40lb braid and i could really feel when i entered the grass and when it came out the other side. my grass isnt that deep, not like yours. 8 feet down maybe? year before, i would slow swim a Magdraft freestyle for the same, " i cant believe that worked" shock feeling. the hits were big and dramatic.

i have. many times, but the movie reference is over my head.

lately for me it is a Hanger Steak. i couldnt point it out on a cow though.
