  1. sorry you did ask earlier on and I totally forgot to reply. the Zillion SV I’ve used for 3 seasons straight and it’s always with me. I use it with 12lbs yozuri hybrid and throw everything I can on it and it’s still a great reel. It’s a real do everything reel. The new Tat 100 I have time on it from last season and it feels like my tatula elite and zillion smooth. I used it for everything, really good workhorse reel. The zillion HD I used for frogs (not going to this year) and t-rigs in grass and chatterbaits in grass. It’s like the zillion sv but just cranked up a notch. The tatula 80 I used it for smaller t-rigs and senkos and it’s a good solid little reel. Very smooth but I felt it didn’t cast as well as I had hoped. I also tried it for jerkbaits and topwater baits as well and I just didn’t find the sweet spot for it. I took it apart and flushed all the bearings and greased it all back up for this season and I’ll try it out again. In all fairness i didn’t give it much of an honest effort. My buddy has a couple of the tat 80s and he loves them and uses them as workhorse reels and he can launch a bait with them. So it must be me.
  2. thanks for the video! I’ll have to give that a try for sure. Hoping this year is my year.
  3. That victory rod is amazing. It’s one of my fav rods and always with me when I go fishing. I have it with a zillion SV using 12lbs YZH and it’s awesome. Going to try my Antares 70 on it this year.
  4. Ok…. So pre-season is opening up here shortly with the ice melting and I’m itching to get out. I’ve never had luck with jerkbaits. I am literally the worst at fishing them ever because I can’t stop finding snags. I can legit cast into 20ft of open water with absolutely no chance ever to get snagged and I’ll manage to find the only spot possible to snag and lose/fight the lure free. Anyways working on my set up for the year I have a 2016 steez SV 7.1 and a St Croix LTB jerkbait rid (6’8 MXF). I am not sure on the line. I was thinking yozuri hybrid 12lbs test unless I go with a fluorocarbon. Was thinking 12lbs sunline invisible shooter. Any recommendations on fluorocarbon from the experienced jerkbait anglers out there that might work the lure better or should 12lbs YZH work just fine?? also any tips or tricks I should work on with working the bait? I have a pile of Vision 110s and 110 jrs that are screaming to be tossed out there and snagged or munched on. I do have a few jr +1 and +2. what would get me the most action and usage with this bait? This year I planned to really step out of my comfort zone and work on other techniques that I’ve failed at. So this is just the start with the warmer days ahead of us. any other cold water techniques I should be looking at next for April and May? (Seasons closes May 10 until 3rd Saturday in June)
  5. The SLX MGL from 2019 is an awesome reel. It punches away above its price point and so does the jdm 2022 slx dc xt.
  6. I like spiderwire for 40-65lbs. Anything below and I’ve had terrible experiences.
  7. Was there that much of a change in the 2018 and 2022? I thought they just fixed the line guide issue by pushing it back a bit. And also gave it just a different paint job but everything else was the same? How much lighter is it than the 2018? On Right rod, the weight of the 2018 isn’t even noticeable. just curious because my 2018 bantam is one of my fav reels and I always wonder if I should just get a ‘22 as well.
  8. I used to buy new from Japan but my last 6 reels have been used from the Japan auctions for fraction of the cost of new. The descriptions so far on quality have been spot on. Just got a 2016 steez sv for $122usd and I have no complaints. So I wouldn’t count out used gear. Other reels I got were ‘17 scorpion dc, ‘16 metanium dc, ‘18 bantam mgl, ss sv103 and ‘20 metanium. No issues with any.
  9. I believe the tatula sv 100 is the same frame but the tatula sv 150 is a different frame
  10. that’s how I’m feeling after using the new tat last season next to the zillion. Now with the new tat sv having sv boost as well. Daiwa is just out doing themselves
  11. im holding it weird for the picture to show how a thumb fits in good lol but it does palm really nice. I think it’s one of my favs from last year. I’m hoping I feel the same this year.
  12. This is exactly it. I have the zillion sv, zillion hd, tat 80 and tat 100 and I feel the tat 100 palms better and is more comfortable in hand. Plus that groove in the middle is just right for your thumb to rest in.
  13. I float tube a bunch of backwoods lakes north of Ottawa or fish the Trent and bay of Quinte.
  14. hello neighbour. I’m in your area. Welcome to the boards. Ottawa… lots of good spots to fish
  15. oh yeah! I don’t have the time myself anyways so just keeping an ear out for anyone local.
  16. Yeah hopefully it’s well done at least. Ha. I have a daiwa Px-R that I want painted. Just need to find someone in Canada to do it for me. Don’t think I can do it myself.
