Are the Orochis As Bad As They Say??
What model? I have the perfect pitch and tour versatile and they’re great. Having said that… I may have cursed myself 😕

The SB rod in the combat stick is truly a hidden gem. Another hidden gem in that line up is the 7’1 Medium topwater/jerkbait rod.

If you don’t want a glass rod for chatterbaits the evergreen combat stick shower blows rod is excellent. If you want the glass rod then the jackhammer special is the way to go in the combat sticks.

I have a tour Versatile. Nice rod as it does a lot of stuff well. It’ll work for chatterbaits and traps however im Not sure I’d use it as a dedicated rod but that’s just Me. Definitely give it a try and see how you feel about it but it will certainly work. I use an evergreen combat stick jackhammer rod or st croix victory rip n chatter. Depends where im at.

the reel the OP is looking at is an exclusive reel. The Tact-Z model which is an alloy frame. It’s different from the original Zata LP that is a graphite frame.

How much better can reels get?
Definitely the high end reels will be obsolete to some extent. Look at the Shimano Stradic FL. Fantastic reel at a great price that doesn’t leave me wondering how much better the reels above its price point can be. Same with the Zillion SV. I don’t feel the need to go to a steez anymore or even feel the steez is worth it. The SLX MGL and SLX DC XT to me make the curado obsolete now. But what do I know?

Hidden gem frog reel
I have one. Nice reel.

Get the four of the same reel, or mix it up?
I’d agree… just stick with Zillions and SLX MGLs… those SLX MGL reels are great. I prefer them over the more expensive curado mgl 70s and 150s. At their price point you can’t go wrong. Going above them would just be curiosity kicking in to find out you won’t get much gains. if you want a step up from the SLX mgl you can try the SLX dc xt. It has the MGL III spool. Whole different beast from the standard SLX mgl. I don’t care for the DC aspect but the reel itself is extremely nice for what you get. It punches above the SLX name and I’m not sure why it’s even an SLX lol

Megabass rod for single hook techniques
That’s my recommendation for a good so everything rod in the Orochi xx line. Tour Versatile

SC Victory Marshal vs Shimano Zodias.
I’d choose the Grunt over the Marshall but the grunt just works well for me shore fishing and float tube. Either one you wouldn’t be disappointed. You might enjoy the Marshall more if you’re on a boat. The 6’11M+ PA is the real stand out of any PA rod. Such and amazing rod for so much.

What do you plan to use the Tour Versatile for?
-
SC Victory Marshal vs Shimano Zodias.
The Grunt is something special. It’s always with me. It just does alot of stuff really good. I wouldn’t count that one out on your search. I’ve used the Zodias rods and I prefer the Victory rods better. Plus the warranty is a no brainer.

SC Victory Marshal vs Shimano Zodias.
No brainer…. SC Victory. I’d also recommend looking at “the Grunt” in the Victory Line. 7’1 MH/F. I use that rod for everything. Fav rod I’ve ever had. I like it better than the Marshall.

Daiwa rod warranty
Any fishing store should have tubes kicking around that they usually give out for free. You’re in the bay of quinte area?

Megabass Levante vs orochi
I have the Brailliat in the Levante line. It’s a nice rod that I never use. I use the Orochi XX Tour Versatile for what i planned to use the Braillist for. The Orochi XX Tour Versatile rod is ok. Not always reaching for it to use but it does the job when in need it too. I just use it because it cost enough that I feel like I need to use it at least once a year lol if you got the Levante Braillist I’m sure you wouldn’t be disappointed though.

Buying reels from Japan
Whenever I buy from JLS I have to use the PayPal express (I’m not sure if there is any other way). The first time I selected pay in YEN and my bank did the conversion which was spot on to what xe .com told me it would cost. The next time I didn’t notice the option and let PayPal do the conversion and it cost me an extra $25 or so. Then my next 9-10 orders I made sure to select pay in yen and never had an extra charge. Only get a bill from fedex a month and a bit later for around $16 for custom charges.

Talk me out of a Steez
I agree.. the steez is one of those reels that if you question if you should get it then the answer is get it because it won’t leave your thoughts. Once you get it you’ll think “hmmm… maybe the zillion was more than enough”
-
Tatula Elite vs Zillion Sv Tw
I order from JLS often and I’ve always received a bill from fedex a month and a bit later for around $16.24. Never over $20 even on orders in the $750-850 mark. This is in Ontario.

Talk me out of a Steez
Anything above a zillion sv tw is just a zillion sv tw with a different name.
