  1. Do not hear all the comments here about how amazing the Zillion is. It is amazing but don't let that stop you from buying what you really want. Just get the Steez. From my experience. I would buy a second option, be happy with it for a little while but the idea of what I really wanted will never go away... ending on me buying both! So no, you're are not saving any money.. Go for it!
  2. I guess it really depends where you fish, I use the leader not because fish will see the braid but because of pike infested waters. I do prefer casting braid but switch most rigs now to straight fluorocarbon because of my laziness to maintain the leaders. I'm trying to simplify all aspects of me going fishing and this is one thing less to worry about.

You from Wi, welcome to BR!
  4. At the beginning of the year, someone posted a thread asking how much would you be spending on tackle this year. I confidently said cero as I was planning to use all the crap I had purchased the previous years and never used. Not only I failed soon after, I'm still finding crankbaits on my car's door pockets I bought early on the season that again were forgotten an unused. Even worst. I almost never fish crankbaits. On the positive side, I do believe this has been my lowest spending year in a while with only a few hundred spent. I call that a success.
  5. I believe its a pretty simple mechanism, however not everyone has the patience, time or tools to do this job so sending it someone is completely fine. I run my reels until they die and only disassemble them if they feel dry after purchasing (I still love you Daiwa) or if they start having issues.. I do not have personal attachment to any gear so if it starts failing its replaced, all donated reels gets the deep mechanical service treatment, what is not goes to the trash.
  6. So.... one day will be kind of watchable. Every time I read MLF..😄
  7. That lazy bass deserved to be eaten..
  8. I guess this is another proof that we will do anything to catch them.
  9. Please share a picture of your kayak... I'm intrigued how you get 15 in there!!
  10. Understood.. I really do not watch/follow any professional competitive fishing but I find all this conversation fascinating as I saw how this affected my own fishing club. I went from just being an entry fee guy to win some weekends... not by experience or technique but for having some additional disposable income.
  11. Lol, Its finally hitting their wallets so that gets them "thinking about the fact" As more people get better with it we will see different winners that don't have the years of experience and it will be more obvious as the technology gets better and better. hopefully the money these companies pays them for endorsing FFS last them long enough. competitive fishing is only getting better to watch now that they just look at screens and use their sissy sticks. Now I must disclose that I have it, use it and love it. (both FFS and sissy sticks)
  12. Just keep in mind that too much water is also a thing... Drinking too much of it can actually dilute electrolytes and lead to water intoxication, with symptoms very similar to dehydration (which will make you think you need to drink even more) I'm not saying this because I endorse beer drinking.. Water intoxication is real.
  13. All I could think of its the amount of treble hooks getting caught in them.
  14. Can't touch this!
  15. If you don't use them get rid of them. you will find a buyer for sure and you get some cash in your wallet.. I do not understand the need to keep gear that you no longer use for sentimental value, because maybe one day they will be wort something or one day you may need it.. (if you got newer gear, you wont) Unless you are a collector, I'll say sell and buy new.
  16. Asking in this forum if 12 hours of fishing is reasonable is as reasonable as asking an alcoholic if 6 pack per night is reasonable. I'm not saying that its wrong, but I guess the answer to your questions should not come from a bunch of unknown people but for the people that will actually miss you over that straight 12 hour period. I actually completely despise just the idea of waking up early morning for ANY activity. But I do it to take less time away from my kids. My dad was workaholic, great person and gave my all I ever needed and more, but he was still absent. In his mind it was reasonable because he was doing it for us.. but i still missed him.
  17. Get the seat risers.. they make a huge difference.
  18. While orange its a horrible color on itself, think about it in terms of safety. I got the green camo and its barely visible by boaters. So orange is not bad at all!
  19. what do you do with the vinegar to keep them away??
  20. There are numerous new and fun soft plastic technics now available. But the Texas Rig is the undisputed summertime confidence bait.
  21. As many have stated here, the Old Town 106 is a great stable kayak, but that really depends on how good you are at balancing yourself.. I personally have the athleticism of manatee and I'm still able to stand up and fish on the 106 PDL. Hope that helps.
  22. So far its been great, I use the trolling motor not only for spot lock but to take me from A to B. I have never run out of juice and practically keep the spot lock on all the time. A usual outing for me its about 6 to 8 hours. I must point out that I'm not into any tournaments or fish huge lakes where it takes me an hour to get to my first fishing spot, but I don't think i would have any issues if I did that. I charge the night before and will be ready for the next day. I only use this battery for the motor and have a small 10ah for electronics. I did not expend the big bucks on a brand name battery, I went to amazon and bought the Litime mini and its been great for me... its light, its small and its cheap.. it may last half as long as a Dakota litium but its less than half the price.. if it dies in 5 years I'll just get a new one.. at thar point technology will improve and prices will be lower.. it really makes no sense to me to pay for a brand. hope this helps!!
