I have the sportsman 106, The transducer for my Helix 5 is mounted in the universal transducer mount. I have no issues with SI or any other function.

If he is a friend and not only a fishing budy sit down with him and couple of beers, ask him what his ....... problem is. If its just a random guy just get rid of him. fishing is not worth dealing with someone like that.

I did it once at the beginning of the season, I had to remove that horrible Maxcuatro out of some reels.

If you have the means to purchase them go for it. It really doesn't matter how the fishing is, it just matters that you enjoy your equipment. I guess if you don't end up in debt over fishing gear and your priorities well set, then do whatever with your disposable income.

I bought a couple of the adapters, I guess i can take apart one of the Curados and check if they fit and what parts I need to purchase from Shimano. If this works it will make a huge difference for be because I really dislike the knobs on my Daiwas even using Winn grips

Does this really works?? I love my zillions but will pay anything for them to have the large shimano knobs and handles.

Thanks for the info, I feel they should be up for renovation soon, while they are excellent rods, they are heavy (in comparison to other similarly priced ones) and with a good reel they feel tip heavy. Again I'm talking baitcasters as I don't own any megabass spinning rods.

If you really like to clean mechanical precision components I would recommend an ultrasonic cleaner. they are really inexpensive and will clean sprigs and gears like nothing else. Disclaimer: I pay for the service or use reels until they die (mainly)

I'm also considering buy and Orochi spinning rod as I really like my casting setups. I was wondering how old is this series of rods, do you guys know whey were they released and if there is any indication that they may be replaced anytime soon?

Just remember that everyone on this site is bias. I would keep the boat and buy a kayak, once you spend the time on the water you can make your own opinion if it is for you or not. There are pros and cons to both so try it for your self and you will get the right answer.

I'm at 50%-50% Daiwa-Shimano mid range reels.. Only have a concept A2 for my frog reel and if it was lighter it would for sure be in many more combos.. your description of workhorse is very accurate.
