  1. Can I choose neither? If it’s 95 I don’t go out, that’s what I have AC for. If it’s 10 I don’t go out, that’s what I have heat for. Thankfully we rarely see either.
  2. We have a Hazardous Waste Disposal shop close by, it’s a private company. The town pays for 2 gallons of waste a year per household, after that you get charged. For gas they charge $3 A POUND!
  3. I’m not a bait fisherman so gear choice probably differs. My surf casting is with poppers and the like, so I’m constantly casting, all my salt setups are spinning. The rig gets heavy after a few hours so weight matters. A casting trigger helped a lot for heavy baits. It’s been a while since I bought my salt water gear but for me I like a 10’ 2pc with a 5000 reel. I went with an Offshore Angler combo from Cabela’s, decent gear and price, in today’s prices it’d be maybe $150. I didn’t spend big cause I fish off the rocks and jetties, equipment takes a beating. I also carry an Inshore rod/reel for when I get worn out casting the surf caster and go to smaller baits. A salt worthy bass setup would work for this but I wouldn’t use my good ones. Mine is a St Croix inshore 3pc rod and an older Capricorn reel.
  4. I don’t keep it in the car but put it in when I think I may use it. It’s a St Croix spinning 7’ MF 3 pc Tidemaster, being an inshore rod I can used it for salt or fresh. The normal reel is a Capricorn 2500, somewhat of a beater, but good and heavy duty, and saltwater capable. The rods a little stiff but still works fine for my needs. Have a 2pc Ugly Stick ultra light if I want to try for trout, it’s got a little 500 size reel, don’t recall what that is though. It’s pouring out and I’m not going to go look.
  5. I skip all the little stuff. Had a HS “work experience” class, it got me a job as auto body apprentice, which was good cause I crashed a good number of cars in the teen years. Stayed there till I started my own place at 19, great pay, but it all went to chasing skirts, what’s a 19 year old know about running a business? Joined the AF to get in something cleaner, my much brighter brother suggested I try and get into computers back before anyone knew what they were, lo and behold I got the first choice on my dream sheet. A year in Biloxi, 3 in Omaha where I met my bride. I loved the service but got out cause the low pay wouldn’t support 3. Got an offer at the WSJ, which I accepted and stayed at till, I retired at 56, if it ran off electric we fixed it, from mainframes to the printing press, not a boring day in 33 years. It was another great job till the family that owned it sold out to News Corp. I went from having 20 folks working for me to 3 when I left, with more hours then ever. If you’ve never been through them layoffs suck. Had round after round over the years, it’s tough picking who’s going when you’ve worked and partied with them for years. I left when they cut me from 5 guys to 3, to cover a 7 days week.. Just too much stress, and it was about to get much tougher. Fishing is much better. My favorite job was part time at a mom and pop diner.
  6. I've used Sliders for years, the thicker wire ones. Never tried their plastics but they sent me samples with my Slider order this winter.
  7. Picked up an slx and an slx xt last year when I wanted to get into baitcasters. Either one will do very well, it did take a day or 3 to stop getting backlashes.
  8. None, tried mesh, hooks always got stuck. I have all mid grade equipment, if something gets beat up where I can’t use it I’ll just replace it, 20+ years and have yet had the need. If I had something top of the line I’d try a neoprene.
  9. Good job. “A man’s got to know his limitations” Harry Callahan
  10. If it makes any difference, the inflatables, at least mine, comes with a manual inflator just in case. If one can access it while trying to tread water remains to be seen.
  11. FWIW, I use both, canoe/kayak short foam job when it’s cold or raining, HIT inflatable when it’s too warm for the other. I actually prefer the foam as it adds paddling for the wooden seat back. Neither one bothers me, comfort wise. Don’t know if there’s a difference in what’s needed boat vs canoe. Maybe one of the big class 5 jobs if you have a couple of those big Suzuki’s pushing you around.
  12. What do you mean by the “gas cylinder change”? Do you plan on falling in the water all the time?
  13. I have no issue trying new to me knots, thing is I always go back to what I started with.
  14. Royalex has it’s place, it was nice to have dragging down the Allagash one September.

I like this idea, I changed some trebles to singles last year but don't care for the way they swim.
  16. I pull pinkish worms when I clean the fountain out back. I had no idea they could live totally submerged, but they do.
  17. I can only get it by the gallon can, for a mere $24.
  18. Been here for 43 yrs and still can’t pronounce that right.
  19. Any idea what part of the country the author is in?
  20. Might not count... I get burned out by October, but by Feb I'm chomping at the bit, like now.

67, I’m in bed 9:30-10 ish, get up somewhere between 4 and 6:30 depending if I’m going fishing. If my CPAP is right, I sleep around 6 or 7 hours, many bathroom trips thru the night so never get more then 2 hrs at a shot. Worked swing shift for 30 or so, got around 5 hours a night
  22. You use the sum of both the + and the -, so 3 mt total, chart says for 50 amp use 6 gauge cable. Yes, you can use either a fuses or a breakers. If you have 2 separate circuits I’d fuse each dependent on it’s load and cable. ie: the 45 lb trolling motor at 1.5 mt would be a 50 amp breaker on 6 g, say a 2nd circuit is a 5 amp load 3 mt. distant, you’d could use a 10 or 5 amp breaker on 10 g wire. This page has the chart I used. Blue Sea disclaimer, I’m not an electrician so do your own due diligence.
  23. If it’s n iPhone it’s a fairly well known issue, has to do with how the phone saves the pics when taken. If you do a little searching on the net you’ll find fixes for it. I don’t use an iPhone so I can’t help.
  24. No transition for me, I hear it’s better now but when I had it many moons ago they were great but eventually took on a yellow tint 24/7. All the rest of your list describe my WileyX Omega’s in bronze. They are as close to wrap arounds as I could find in a progressive Polarized lens, which is what I was looking for. On my 2nd set of lenses (prescription change) in this pair, I’ve had em for maybe 5 years. You have to like the look though and not mind the price.
