Have a little issue here
You could do like I do with my 10 year old grandson. Even with my best efforts, he just can’t catch many bass so when I hook one I hand him my rod to reel in and release, It’s close enough to make him happy, so maybe treat your buddy like a 10 year old.

Do left handers ...
I’m a righty, cast right, retrieve left, both reel types. My grandson is a lefty, he prefers the opposite of me although he can use mine no problem whereas I am useless using his. I used to do the swap thing, no idea why or when I swapped to my current mode.

Razors
I was ticked when Gillette did away with the 2 blade so I got stuck with a 3 blade although I see no improvement over the 2, just costs more. These days I’ve gotten soft and do the majority with a Braun 7 and the Sensor 3 when I’ve got a big date. I do find Cremo works way better then canned shave cream.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
I’ve tried swivels with Mepps, where I fish they ended up being just another thing to catch weeds. If I direct tie to braid I have little if any problem with line twist on a spinning reel.

Barefoot and footwear in the Boat
Calf high cheap rubber boots in colder weather, if the sun comes out I take em off and sit in the canoe barefoot. Crocs once the water warms. It’s not like I’m walking around.

How often do you go into your tacklebox while fishing?
I only take 3 rods, 1 with lures, the other 2 with plastics. I change the lure a few times, usually to something that works best in the current conditions. I suppose if I had 6 or 7 rods along I wouldn’t need to. I do go through a lot of plastics, pickerel do a number on them. I also change bullet weights a few times, again to match the conditions. i could get away with a couple trays if I set them up before each trip, I’d still need somewhere for the rest of the stuff, bug spray, sunscreen, pliers, nippers, leader, etc., so the bag goes along. I have gone stream trout fishing with just a pocket box and the hemostats.

not tackle, but one of my more important fishing gear items. need a suggestion for a good one.
Not a lot of stuff goes up in quality as the years go by, usually the opposite.

Work issue--don't really know how to proceed....
I may have missed it but I don’t see your coworkers side of the story, it usually matters. Has anyone talked to his hiring mgr, it’s possible they did their due diligence and hired him knowing the whole story.

How often do you change your braid?
I replace it every other year, reverse it the other year. IF I didn’t change it out during the year for some reason. This summer I put yellow on a couple reels just to try it out, I’ll go back to green this winter, didn’t care for the yellow, mainly I just have more confidence in the green.

Lithium Ion Phosphate vs. Sealed Lead Acid (Charging)?
You’re right, my bad. I thought SLAs were still flooded with fixed caps.

How many states have you fished and what is your opinion of them?
When we had an RV we traveled most of the country, the need to buy a license in each state prevented me from trying all the states we’ve stayed in. Of the dozen or so I have fished, Ma and Me would be my favorites, mainly cause that’s where I’ve spent the most time doing so. Salt water would be RI.

First Fish off My Docks
Between this thread and the one about your tackle being behind you, maybe it’s time to consider a boat you can leave in the water and use the yak for traveling.

Same as the Raiders.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
I only have experience with the 55 trolling motor, but even that when goosed makes the plastic transom flex a good bit. If I went with a gas motor I’d pay attn to how much flex it causes and try to keep from applying too much torque all at once. If the weight and size of a 6 isn’t that much different from a 5, then go for it, just pay attn when you first start off. I suppose you could call someone like Pelican, and ask the same question, just tell them you have a Bass Raider.

Casting and Reeling With the Same Hand
I swap when I use spinning gear, rt hand to cast and reel. BC’ers I cast rt and reel left. No idea why, it just feels right.

How often do you still use an anchor?
I thought an anchor trolley went from bow to stern so you could use any anchor point

How often do you still use an anchor?
I use one any time there is much of a breeze, tough to fish from a canoe in the weeds without. Sometimes the weeds are thick enough to keep me in place but that’s the exception. Numerous times this year I’ve lost good fish cause I was NOT anchored. The canoe moves easier than a fish in weeds, so I end up losing them when I can’t keep enough pressure on them. I’ve had an injured right hand this season, can’t set a hook for beans. I’m glad there’s no one else on the pond when this happens, I don’t swear a lot, but I do at those times.

Biggest Bass of 2023 ~ What Bait ?
I’d like to say my biggest at 6 lbs was caught on a Rage Craw but it wasn’t, it came on something I had heard of here but didn’t know what actually was. Bought and tried a few underspins, caught this one on a white with a grub trailer. This was on a pond with just 1 and 2 lb’ers that I fish when I’m too lazy to drive an hour. Fished that bottom spin for hours after the 6, absolutely nada.

10 foot angler fishing boat-- what size trolling motor?
Like Txchaser, I put a Grass Ninja on this summer. I’ve only used the boat once since but it worked well on that trip, I drift into weeds a lot. Saves stopping out on the water, disconnecting the battery, pulling up and cleaning off the weeds.

T rig spinning rod
Not that a hundred others wouldn’t work, but I use St Croix Premier’s in both M and MH. Normal bait for me is 1/8th oz bullets on EWG hooks and the large size of Rage Craws. The big bugs are a bit heavy but you can still manage them on the MH. For me the medium is fine for the small and large craws although I go to a lighter weight. Just noticed your price, the Premier goes for something like 140, it was 100 when I bought them.
