Trolling motor battery died - replacement recommendations?
Not exactly. My understanding is an SLA (lead acid) deep cycle battery can be recharged about 500 times if discharged down to 20%, meaning you used 80% of the total capacity. You get about 1000 recharges if you only take them down to 50%, so twice the life. This is why it is recommended to not go below 50%. This is the damage you hear folks mention when you go beyond 50%. It makes no difference to lithium battery life if you draw it down to 50% and 20%. Life time of a Dakota Lithium is said to be 2000 recharges, Battleborn says 3000-5000 for theirs. Voltage level of an SLA slowly drops till it gets where the TM will not function. A lithium stays at top voltage till it hits about 20%, then it drops like a rock. So you have full power till that point.

Trolling motor battery died - replacement recommendations?
According to google, there is an Interstate Battery dealer in Mississauga. I had good luck with a pair of SRM-24's in an RV.

Your Best and Worst
I fish fairly shallow New England ponds exclusively Best T rigged creature baits spinners like Mepps Worst All the rest, creature baits work so well for me I go back to them pretty quick when trying other lures. It's all in the confidence for me. I could easily get away with only carrying 2 creature baits in 2 colors in 2 sizes, and leave everything else at home, but it would get boring.

Quality fish scale
I use a 15lb Boga Grip I bought for ocean use some years back. Supposed to be very accurate, except it measures in .25 lb increments. Very fast and easy to use. If I were to weigh A-Jay's fish, it'd be a 7lb'er on my scale as opposed to his 6.94. I like my reading better. I only weigh the big honkers, hoping for 5 lb and up, which is pretty rare around these parts.

Circuit breaker on trolling motor battery
If you own a multimeter you can check to DC voltage before and after your trip to determine how much juice you used. Need to check it when you are NOT underway, let it sit for a bit before testing.

Trolling motor info for 11' John Boat
Yes, the manual should provide the amp draw. You need a fuse/breaker to cover that. At least my Minn Kota does.

Circuit breaker on trolling motor battery
In short, yes if the battery is in good condition. You might be able to get it load tested at an auto parts store. Can you tell how old the battery is, and is it a Deep Cycle? Average life is somewhere around 5 years, I've gotten up to 7 or 8 on a deep cycle. There is an battery level indicator on the Minn Kota, but I've not paid any attn to it so don't know how valid it is.

Mowing...hate it or love it
I've been working on improving the lawn for the last few years, the fertilizer service guy says to cut mine at 4". Sounds excessive but that's what I've done, more or less. I was doing some chicken wings on the charcoal grill last night, which I keep on the far side of the yard. With this good weather I went barefoot, man that dense 4" grass felt great, felt like laying down in it. Think I'll encourage barefoot travel in the yard, snow angles too, at least till it burns up. Since I picked up a zero turn a month ago I'm enjoying mowing the lawn.

Waxing Cork Handles
I clean them over the winter with a magic eraser, thought about the U-40, but for me the eraser is enough.

What’s night fishing like?
I've fished at midnight from shore, worked out great. Been out a couple times in my canoe, after launching I couldn't see a thing, like zero. I knew where I wanted to go but after a few minutes I had no idea where I was or what direction I was going, much less finding the put in if I wanted out before twilight. Going to try it with the GPS now that it's warmed up at night.

They are stapled together from what I've read.

Separate battery or not for Garmin
I've never tried my Garmin on the TM battery but like most have heard you can get interference. I use a seperate 7ahr SLA which I already owned. If I were getting a new battery I'd go with the same amperage lithium to save on weight. $70 for a Dakota lithium vs $23 for a Cabela's SLA. No problems with my Striker Plus 4 lasting 8 hrs, don't know about the CV.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
I've read about separating the 2 halves, doesn't sound too hard. Remove the band, remove all the staples, do what you want to do and rivet it back together. Think I'd use it as is if you can and do it over the winter.

Transom mount rudder
I was going to get a minn kota transom mount off Amazon and a piece of pvc that will fit the bullnose rudder. After getting the boat I put the rudder on the trolling motor just to try it out. I've yet had a need to put in the separate rudder as this set up is good so far. So anyway, you can get the mount for something like $60 if you want to Go that route. Could also mount the shaft to a piece of 2x4 with emt clamps and use c clamps or some such to mount that to the transom as needed.

New to bass fishing
I knew the Shimano SLX sounded familiar, that's what the components of my mountain bike are. Sounds like they are both top notch.

securing rods in a canoe/kayak
From the looks of the casts_by_fly's pic I wouldn't be able to paddle on the rods side, that makes it a no go for me. Getting older and need to swap paddling sides occasionally, especially in the wind. Personally if I were looking to do so I might mount the horizontal setup in front of me, so the butts are maybe 18" in front of the seat with the tips sticking out in front of the canoe. Just pray you don't hit into anything.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
While I do not use the built in wiring, the boat side on mine is this one https://www.boatid.com/mar-lan/12-24-v-female-receptacle-mpn-5011-03-2c.html?view=131063 Making this one the TM side https://www.boatid.com/mar-lan/12-24-v-10-awg-3-wire-trolling-motor-male-plug-mpn-5010-03-2c.html?view=851588 Looks like the mate to the male Bird shows.

securing rods in a canoe/kayak
How many rods do you bring? I carry 2 or 3, so 1 or 2 behind me at times. I shouldn't say this but in 20 years in a solo canoe I've yet to drop one in the drink. Once I start fishing there is usually just one behind me, one laying down in front of me, and the one I'm using at that moment, nothing sticking up. May make a difference in that my longest rods are 6'6".

Why leader on braid?
15lb, as that's what I have, I do see some nicks in it after a few chomps so it does still need to be retyed at times. Going to order some 20 lb later this week to see how it works. I did have one occurrence where the flouro broke right at the knot, which was my 1st time with Palomar knot. Went back to an improved clinch. Time will tell. Had too much hassle tying knots in wire.

Why leader on braid?
Started using flouro leaders, about 18", as it withstands pickerel better then my 15 lb braid. So far. No other reason for me.

stake-out pole, drift sock, anchor and/or trolley for a canoe?
5 lbs and you can drift a bit in a breeze, 10 lbs and you won't.

Replacing lead acid batteries with Lithium?
I'm no expert but I'd change all 3. They charge and discharge at different rates then flooded. Noco makes top of the line lithium chargers. The manufacturer of the lithium may have suggestions on a charger too.

The Ultraskiff is 6', don't think I'd want to try paddling it though.
