Pond stopped hitting
I'd look for a new pond.

Rod Floats
Some boat insurance policies can have fishing equipment added to them. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/39550-fishing-gear-insurance/

do you think one of those throwable floatation devices is too stiff to be a seat cushion?
I have several, the green 1" ish foam goes flat after a bit, which was not the case when I was younger and lighter. The 1.5 or 2" was too high and made me feel tippy (canoe). The maybe 1.5 memory foam was better but still after 3 or 4 hrs my butt got soar. A 2" Purple Royal cushion is the best I've used, it's my go to. Don't know how the cover would do if it got wet. I'm 215 lbs if it matters.

I hate spinning gear
Day 2 of trying to learn the baitcaster... Accurate? not at all, but as I'm in the middle of the pond I can't miss the water. Biggest catch on the BC was a little over 2lbs, I got a small birds nest and after clearing it found there was a decent fish on the line Yoo Hoo! Only had maybe 6 small bird nests in 4 hrs, easy to clear. After remembering to keep my elbows in and NOT try overhead, I did fine, hit the water every time. Brought a ML spinning setup with me for when I get frustrated. Landing fish is more fun with the ML then the MH.

What is your bucket list item? name a few?
My bucket list is complete, glad I got things done before my health started to act up. Spent 13 years traveling with a camper to see/hike all the national parks and generally seeing all of the country, that's really all of my bucket list. One of my sons buddies lived with us for his senior year of HS. Went to Annapolis and became a carrier pilot.

what is your Daily Driver?
The real daily driver is the 2020 CR-V, but it's just a car. My real vehicle is a 2012 F150 4x4 Supercab w/8' bed with 110k on it. I towed a 5th wheel back and forth cross country for 8 winters, now it's for dump runs and fishing, 3k a year @ 16 mpg since 2020. For the price of these things I hope it lasts forever. If it goes to 200k, at 3k a year it should last another 30 years.

Basic Fish Finder Question
Will do, thanks. Obviously I'm a rookie at it.

Basic Fish Finder Question
Poking around on the internet it looks like "bottom lock" must be on, I'll see if I can change it tomorrow. Thanks for the tip on jigging, I'll try it. Trying to figure out if the yellow at the base of the display is mud or weeds or a combination of the 2, as in muck.

Basic Fish Finder Question
Can someone tell me what I'm looking at on this image? Is it saying there is 2' +/- of weeds on the bottom? Thanks

I hate spinning gear
I'm with Chris above, I have none of your problems with spinning gear. With braid I get no line twist, I can cast it pretty much wherever I want, and they cast as far as I care to cast them. I'm attempting to learn a baitcaster right now as I'm having physical issues pinching the line with my finger when I use heavier lures on spinning gear. So far I have lousy distance and terrible accuracy with my baitcaster, but I'm not blaming the equipment.

Grandkids
Took #5 out a couple weeks ago, he got skunked while I caught a bunch. A couple days later his dad took him, both skunked. Took him out again earlier this week but this time I bought live worms which I haven't used since I was a kid. He got 16 bluegill, his count, and a smallie, and I spent the day baiting his hook, removing the bluegills, and untangling his line. Much better day.

Reel grease
I was using some of the red reel grease, Hot Sauce I think, but it stained my white Stradics so I changed to ReelX, which I have yet to use. In fairness, I was also using red reel oil so it could have been either or both. Both are now gone.

When do they change from crayfish to crawfish?
In MA and CT as a kid they were crayfish, once I started to fish again in about my 40's they became craws.

Grandkids
4, 4 boys, 0-17, 2 girls 10 & 12. Been taking 3 of the boys out this year as I got a 2 person bass raider just so I can. Going out with the 8 yo in the am., it's his 1st year so he needs some learning. The 2 older boys both got their 1st jobs this summer so the best I could do was going out before they started. One of them loves fishing, the other just likes being out on the boat on quiet ponds. The only downside is I can only take 1 at a time. Maybe it's time to ask the girls.

Mustang auto inflate
I've got the regular HIT with the 38 lbs. (6'2", 215) I wear it all the time, just cause there's no reason not to. After the 1st minute or so I really forget it's on, at least until it's time for rain gear. I do like the back design on the Elite though, I do sometimes get the straps a little off kilter when putting it on, the Elite would prevent that. I guess if I were your size I'd opt for the Elite if it works for your weight. A little more convenient for the same price. I do change to a full foam vest when it gets cold enough.

What is this?
Pondweed stems attach to the leaves at one end of the leaves. Brassenia, locally called watershield, stems attach to the middle of the leave, also slimy underneath.

What do you do best?
Don't recall the last time I got skunked, which is explained by being good at catching little bass and pickerel. When I get bored trying to get big guys I go down in bait size, hence the little fish.

Chess
Played a lot as a kid, then nothing for 50 years +/-. This past winter my 16 yo grandson asked if I wanted to play, so I did, guess who won. He creamed me.

Needles
Never tried dry needling but I have had my fair share of regular needles, from allergy shots, to home self injections. To me the hardest was the foot cortisone shot, I was jumping as soon as the doc touched my foot. I told him he'd have to strap it down to stop it from jumping, kind of like when they check your knee reflexes.

Cooking/Baking Thread
I've been making breads for years, mostly Jewish Rye for Rubens after the local bread shop closed. Started doing artisan bread about a year ago going by the Flour Water Salt Yeast book, maybe a loaf a week until I had 2 teeth removed. Pretty easy for top notch bread if you have a dutch oven but it has a hard crust, which means no more bread till my implants are done. My wife is the real baker int he family, all I do is bread.
