  1. Sorry to hear about Cobey.
  2. Thanks Mr Aquarium, exactly what I needed. Are there craws in these muddy bottomed ponds?
  3. Hi Folks Kind of a general MA question for you. I fish small weed bound ponds in the hill at the western end of the state. How can I determine what the bass normally feed on in a given body of water? I can see the bass fry mixed with a couple other types. I practice catch and release so I have no experience seeing what's in their stomachs.
  4. Yup, King Oscar double layer in oil, been eating them since I was a kid.
  5. I bought one for surf casting many years ago, I figured it was just a way to make them cheaper, instead of 18" of cork, but it might have been for weight savings.
  6. Since retiring in 13 this is the 1st year we haven't traveled south in the winter, got the fever pretty bad. Been getting by buying tackle I don't need.
  7. Started with ocean and small pond fishing somewhere around 10. Pretty much all salt water up till 20 or so years ago, so maybe 55 years total. When I first started all our reels were baitcasters, and I had no problems with em. Now I use only spinning and can't cast a baitcaster to save my life.
  8. Do they work wet?
  9. So much for that idea, got an email back. "Due to the volume of emails we receive, this email address is not monitored..."
  10. Get-A-Grip cigar clip, side cutters, Coffee mug, Clif Bars, Towel, head lamp, and being in a canoe, a memory foam seat cushion.
  11. Bummer, that's the only idea I had. I dropped the admins a link to this thread. There is a Contact Us link at the bottom of the pages.
  12. Same as A-jay, had it happening last week +/-, but it's gone now. If no one pipes in with ideas... From past experience clearing one's cache can clear some odd forum related issues. Might be worth having 1 person try it and see.
  13. My oldest grandson, 15, tells me he's ready to do some fishing this year. Then he mentioned he just doesn't want to touch them. Think I'll hand him a container of worms.
  14. No, but the copyright says they started in 1971. They are in Norwalk which is at the shore towards NYC. I imagine they specialize in saltwater.
  15. Just checked, he dropped the bismuth for being too brittle. Tungsten it'll be.
  16. Doesn't leave us a whole heck of a lot of options.
  17. "Lead Sinkers, Lead Weights, and Lead Jigs Weighing Less Than an Ounce. Any sinker or weight made from lead that weighs less than 1 ounce, and any lead jig (meaning any lead-weighted hook) that weighs less than 1 ounce, is prohibited for use in all inland waters of the Commonwealth." I was thinking a spinnerbait might be a "lead-weighted hook", not that I've called anyone to check on it.
  18. I knew I needed non lead for weights but didn't know until I happened to read part of the Mass regs today that it was also required for jig heads under 1 oz, which is of course all of mine. I have all tungsten weights but could use a source for good quality jigs, jig heads, and spinnerbaits. Could also use something to replace the split shot I occasionally use, is Tin my only option? Thanks
  19. Don't know that I'd put the money into a boat at this point in life, but If I could talk myself into it I'd grab a Boston Whaler and go for stripers off shore and in the CT river.
  20. It occurred to me you might want to get just 1 set of regular progressives and see how you make out with them before getting the shades. Many folks don't take to them.
  21. I'm on my 2nd pair of WileyX Omega's https://www.wileyx.com/wx-omega and won't be without. Mine are progressive, polarized copper lenses. They are sort of wrap arounds with light blocking ear pieces so I do not get any light from the sides. They work well but I went thru an optometrist as I was concerned about getting the pupal height correct. If you wear progressives you know what I am talking about. Not cheap but they do exactly what I wanted them to. You can go work your way through the website to see how much they run with the options you want. FWIW, at an optician in an expensive part of town, I was quoted over $1k, the out of the way optician was about half that. If I order in a year that I do not order regular glasses, the sunglasses can be had through my insurance, saving a couple hundred, more or less. I'm allowed the discount on one pair of specs per calendar year.
  22. I'm impressed that some can quote how many fish they caught for the year, I can't even keep track of how many I catch in a day, and I've tried.
  23. I tried shoveling the 5" of slush the am, no way, having a stroke did occur to me. Glad I bought a heavy duty blower 10 years or so ago, don't need the power very often, but it's awful nice when you need it. No problem with the slush ,ketchup is a fair descriptor. Even on high it would only toss it 6 or 8 feet. I've had smaller machines before, the problem is the heavy wet snow blocks up the chute. I have a neighbor with a single stage, I saw someone plowing his drive today.
