  1. I have the Fenwick Techna AV AS70MM. It's a fine rod, but I don't think it's worth $209. The price was raised from $160 without any improvements. I consider it a couple of notches down from the G.Loomis. I also had a IMX MBR844C for several years which I was able to exchange last year for the GLX version. I think you would be very happy with the 843, but the 844 is a more universal rod. If I only had one rod, it would be the MBR844C. Rw convinced me to get the MBR844C GLX, so I did, and I'm THRILLED. Thanks again RW.
  2. My plan is to buy the premier when it comes out in 2008 and it's only 6.4:1, I believe. I don't feel like waiting that long so I bought the SX in hi speed. As far as picking the SX over the SC, well I forgot why. I like the black color I guess.lol;;;;;;;;; Haha, I agree with you 100%. I love black, my SX is on my all black rod with black handle and everything, just looks plain sexy. Red would have killed it a bit. Good enough reason for me!
  3. I got a Revo and Curado, so I guess I got the best 2 out of the 3. Curado is on my jig rod, and my Revo is on my more multi purpose rod.
  4. The bead is to make noise. If the water is really clear, I don't see why you'd need to make noise to get a fishes attention. I very rarely use a bead.
  5. SX is awesome, but just out of curiosity, if you wanted the high speed, why didn't you just get the SC for $80? Practically the same, but only comes in high speed. None the less dude, the SX is a great reel I just got mine a few days ago and love it.
  6. Stradic dude, if you can get a symetre just get the stradic.
  7. That fish is at least in the 8lb range.
  8. That is quite an ugly looking bass....hes got a big chunk missing from the top of his back infront of his fin...I wonder what that is from? Probably a prop hit her, that's my best guess, and many others.. Might added an extra ounce on to him. Haha!
  9. I was a freshman in highschool, I woke up once the first plane hit as my entire family lives in NY and called our house to wake us up. It didnt' seem reel the entire day, just felt like a dream. Luckily my entire family was ok, but friends of friends were lost. My friends birthday is today, I will surely never forget his birthday.
  10. I got mine right away, and thanks to Bobby, I caught my first buzzbait fish. Cavitrons rock, and I still use Megastrike on EVERYTHING. Thanks again bobby.
  11. d**n, I live in California and only have a 7lb 2oz, I gotta step it up!
  12. I love both reels, they're good in different ways, and I enjoy the Curado on my loomis rod, and the SX on my Gblanks rod. They're both very good reels, the Curado fits my hand a bit better, but all and all, they're both awesome. AS for the breaking system. I use only one reel for a specific application (3/8oz and 1/2oz jigs almost exclusively with my Curado, so there will be no need to change the breaking system up).
  13. I'd think that people would love to go up there to catch some pike. FishChris took a little trip up there a few weeks back, though only catching one, he said he had fun. If that place was even open another 2-3 weeks I would plan a trip up there too, I'd love to catch a pike.
  14. Thats' the best way to learn! Every time I want to learn a new technique, I head over to my local pond. You're lucky though, my pond has nothing over 12inches. Also, congratulations on finding the knife, that always makes a good trip even better!
  15. There is indeed a large senko with a grub like tail, I dont' think it's made by GYCB, but there is one. I believe it's in the Summer BPS Catalog. But that is surely a grub.
  16. Dude, I'm asking, what I SHOULD put on it. The directions says to spray something on a cloth, and then apply to the reel after each use. I am asking what I can use for that. Is that put simply enough? If you can't answer that question, don't bother responding. I've asked the same question twice, in which you gave a smart *** response, instead of simply giving me an answer. If you don't know, that's alright, but quit with your smart *** remarks.
  17. What about for the Reel though? Can it be used for the recommended maintenance after rinsing the reel under water? Or should I use a different product for that?
  18. I work at a car shop, so I have silicone spray at my hands anytime. Is this the same as Reel Magic, or it just does the same thing? Is this for after rinsing your reel under water after each use (as recommended by shimano and abu)? Or is this just to do some other time? and does silicone have any affect on line?
  19. I would say 2lbs 13oz - 3lbs 7oz
  20. Is this stuff really important to use? I've never used any either? Do you spray it on and wipe it off, or leave it on? Is this the same stuff that after you rinse your reel off after using it, you can spray on, or should I use something different for that too?
  21. I can't believe how different our views on it are.. I'm amazing that you thought so highly of it. Just goes to show you, people have very different preferences. Mine is a 6'6 M Fast Action. I didn't mind it at first, but once I started getting more expensive rods, it went in my closet.
  22. Ok, I picked up my Revo SX today instead of tomorrow to get to the bottom of this problem. The Revo sits perfectly in my loomis rod, and feels excellent. Doesn't move what so ever, and I hardly had to tighten it down at all. Mhmmm...
  23. I'm starting to wonder if it's the Curado 100 D that has the problem. I have 6 G Loomis rods and the only one that I every had a loose reel on was the one rod that had the 100 D on it. I thought that too, look at everyone that's had problems. It's all be the Curado 100D that has had the problem. I just got a Revo SX , well I'm picking it up tomorrow, but yah. I'll let you guys know how it fits in the seat.
  24. Try tightening down a bit harder, it worked for me ;D I hope my next loomis rod doesn't have this same d**n problem.
  25. I have 2 SC's and an SX, during actual fishing conditions I can't tell the difference between the two except the color. As for the Curado vs. Revo comparison. I've never fished with a new Curado though I've sold a few. Spec wise, they're heavier. If you go with the 100 series you lose the weight but you also lose the line capacity and some people, like myself, find the size a little too small when palming the reel. Both are fine reels though. The Revo SC is probably the best bargain going in fishing right now. With the rebate, which I believe is now over, you could get the thing for $70. Not bad. Even at $90, shipping included, it's still a deal. I dont' like the SC just because because it's a high speed reel. Otherwise I would have purchased 3 in a heart beat. I would have rather gotten 3 of those, then I coulda got another loomis rod ;D But because of the high speed, I passed. Not sure if it's worth paying the extra $80 just to have a different ratio and a few minor changes. But we'll see.
